Pink has been my default shade for lips and cheeks this
season, I think because I feel as though it really brightens up my pale face. I’ve
also had great success finding some bright pink products with amazing lasting
power (Chanel Pink Explosion blush being the first to jump to mind)
which must have a lot to do with it. I swatched and reviewed the Maybelline
Vivid range here, and the lipstick that has been getting the most love this
month has been Vivid Rose, which is funnily
enough a rose toned bright pink lipstick that fades evenly, and lasts nicely
on my lips.
I’ve been pairing it with my BYS Blush Trio palette
in On the Brightside (full swatches and review here) particularly the
centre shade, which is of course the brightest of the whole collection. Brave, you say? With a stippling brush
this sheers out perfectly, but I keep it strong enough so that the pink lip and
cheek work in tandem to make me look awake. I’m
really sleeping with my eyes open, shh. Eyes have been less creative than
usual, and the MAC Bare my Soul quad (from the Temperature Rising
collection) has been copping a hiding! I’ve been throwing all 4 shades into
some looks, but the staple would have to be Romantico all over the lid
(paler brown shade, VP formula) with Friendly (deep chocolate VP) heavy
through the crease.
Do you have a default look you turn to on cold mornings?
Can you suggest a new eye look for me to try out?
My default is neutral on the eyes and bright lip if I remember. If I forget, then it's usually a lip balm or something neutral. :)
ReplyDeleteAsh that sounds like a good default (and very similar to mine, I like that!) I think because I carry too many lip products in my handbag, it gives me a good range to choose from to complement the neutral eye ;P
DeleteLOVE the shades Emma!! I love Vivd Rose-one of the best lipsticks I own! That blush trio is so bright! So pretty!! You have such good taste! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Tracy! Vivid Rose is such an impressive shade from Maybelline, they are kicking butt with their new releases I think. Nothing better than a bright cheek and bright lip combo ;P
DeleteOoh, pretties! That eyeshadow palette looks quite versatile. I honestly don't have a go-to look at all. I pretty much do something different every day. However, my most used palette (especially when I first got it) was the WnW Comfort Zone palette. I always go back to that one.
ReplyDelete@Olgiepolgie It is pretty versatile, and I find myself wanting to try out new combo's since I bought it! You are very creative with your day to day looks, just earlier I was thinking about how many different colours you use, and how you always create amazing eye looks :)
DeleteAh, nice things! That quad looks so good to me now that fall is getting closer here. The pinks are very peppy. :)
ReplyDelete@Liz haha ooh nice things! I am obsessed with the quad, it works so well for me and am glad as it was pretty pricy ;p
DeleteThat quad looks like something I really would love to own :) I love the look of it. It sort of has a Savanna feel over it with the green, gold and brown :)
ReplyDeleteMy go to look is always mascara, eyeliner and a red or berry colored lip :)
Its quick, easy and looks good :)
hugs
xx
@Shortylegsbeauty I think you would love this quad, the lighter brown is great if you just feel like throwing one shade over the lid to be lazy, but the darker shade can make it a dark smokey so easily! I haven't work the green toned shade too much yet, but I do like it a lot :) x
DeleteI probably don't wear bright pink blush often enough! My current go-to eye combos are either beige & taupe or beige & slate - I play it safe during the week too :)
ReplyDeleteVita I think that is probably true, but bright pink blush applied with a stippling brush would be so lovely against your hair <3
DeleteBare my Soul is a gorgeous palette - I'm sure the colours are beautiful on your eyes! I really like Vivid Rose too, definitely one of my favourites from the Vivids line. I've yet to try a Chanel blush, though one was on sale from SNet the other day ... but I resisted :p
ReplyDelete@sleepandwater It really is, I sort of regretted the purchase in the beginning but I have used it so much since then, and honestly adore it. Chanel blushes are pretty amazing, the price is a bit gulp inducing but they last ages on me, and I'm happy to have started the obsession ;P
DeleteI don't really have a default (I don't think so, anyway!). I just go for whatever catches my eye that morning.
ReplyDeleteThat aside, I REALLY WANT VIVID ROSE. Ugh. <3
@Angela I think using whatever catches your eye is a good idea, do you find that it makes you use a bigger lot of your stash that way? Get Vivid Rose, seriously, it would be hot as hell on you!
DeleteVivid Rose is amazing!! It's frickin hard to photograph but looks brilliant!
