For a blush fiend like me, the lure of a limited edition
blush is often too hard to resist. When the price of a blush is on par with a
large skinny flat white from Michel’s Patisserie, any strength I might have had
against the purchase is completely dissolved.
essence are constantly coming out with strong limited
edition collections, with most blushes sitting around the $5 mark in each
release. Wonderful for those on a budget or who are only just getting into
blush, the pans are generally decent quality and the designs really unique and
pleasing to look at. They aren’t overly pigmented, which should suit those with
a fear of clown cheeks, and makes it a lot easier to work with for blush
beginners.
The essence Marble Mania blush in Swirlpool
is my favourite blush release from the brand thus far, and though it now looks
a bit tired thanks to the build-up atop the powder, the performance is still
going strong and it gives a great berry toned glow to the cheek. My least used
essence blushes would have to be the lip & cheek crème’s from the Ready
for Boarding collection, in 01 Sending You Kisses and 02 Beauty
on Tour. Though I love the small pan packaging and aesthetic of this
collection, I consistently reach for my YSL Crème de Blush pots over
this, and we all know that YSL is too big a brand to compete with
(especially in cream blush stakes, where they really dominate!)
In terms of pure pan P0rn, the Home Sweet Home
collection saw the prettiest pan releases for essence. Inspired by a knitted
jumper design, 01 Knits for Chicks and 02 Wool-D You Cuddle Me?
Are just stunning to look at, and the pigmentation is quite decent as
well. The Cherry Blossom Girl
collection and the Asian Sensation blush is a very pretty one, but lacks
the punchy pigmentation I tend to prefer in a blush pan.
What features do you look for in a blush?
Luxe or affordable?
Plain or patterned?
Do you struggle to stick to one blush shade, or do you use
the same colour every day?
*I purchased all of this myself. Beauty blogger blush problems!
Oooo I'm so sad I've missed all those beauties! I don't have essence near me so I maybe only get to check them out once every 4 months or so when I'm in the store down town with it! I look for blushes which are silky smooth and pigmented since I love lots of color! I dont mind patterns or not as its the color that matters!
ReplyDeleteI'm sad you missed out on these as well Sharlynn! I think that they have some hit and miss products, but for the price they are always worth a try. Do you not have a Target or Priceline close by? I think if I were far from those stores I would have so much more money than I do right now haha!
DeleteI like the look of the cream blushes - I didn't manage to see any of them on display but I can understand how they couldn't compare to YSL :p I think the Asian Sensation is a lovely peachy blush but I rarely reach for it - it's very similar (at least the light side) to Benefit Sugarbomb I find. I'm still waiting for the It’s Popul-art!
ReplyDeleteConsidering the price of these, I am very happy to have picked them up! I can't wait for more exciting releases from essence to come our way!
DeleteI consciously try to change up my blush day to day. need to try these essence ones - love the japanese blossom pattern

Erin the essence blushes are so affordable, well worth a try! I get tired of the same blush colours day in and day out, though I do have some favourites for lazy mornings.
DeleteOoh, so pretty. This is more blush than I own! Haha. I have one matte blush and a shimmery one, one bronzer and then a couple of sheer shimmer powder things. That's it!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely adore Essence blushes! Have you seen the one from the Vintage Collection? It's sooo pretty, it has like gold overspray in like a leafy pattern. Their other one with a gradient from pink to orange from the Miami collection is also gorgeous. I really hope they release those in Australia!

I use a few different blushes and I love essence blushes, have a few and they're amazing for how little they cost! x
ReplyDeleteEssence is simply the greatest. I am sucked in by their limited edition collections every.single.time. I loved this post :)
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful! Even thought Essence isn't exactly luxe, I still couldn't bring myself to ruin the pattern. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteI adore Asian Sensation! When did the marbled one come out? It looks gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI wish we had essence in the UK, so much prettiness. I'm all about the colour and pigmentation for blushes. I'm not fussed about patterns/brands!
ReplyDeleteI usually check out the colours - the rosier the more I'm attracted to them. But I tend to gravitate towards the warmer colours with a blue based tone. Or is that cool? Argh! Confused. Anyway, price is definitely a factor - I love cheap blush that lasts a long while - prime example is BYS. But have yet to try out the Essence blush. Or maybe I shouldn't or else I might end up being a blush fiend like you! ;)
ReplyDeleteThat is a lovely stash of blushes. I usually go for luxe blushes. (Blush) I do look at the packaging and mostly the formula of the blush.
