Hitting Pan

On one particular day a few weeks ago, I was in need of some good luck and as I sat down to do my makeup at my desk in the morning my mind was rolling ahead to the big day I had planned and wasn’t really on task. Naturally I reached for my standard and classic eye combination of MAC ‘Jaunty’ with MAC ‘Coquette’ over a base of Maybelline Color Tattoo ‘Bad to the Bronze’ as I often do during distracted mornings, and lo and behold I looked down after applying the cream base to see a glint of pan (in this case, glass jar!) peeking out at me! I immediately took it as a sign of good luck, as a pan hit has to be one of the best feelings for a blogger, don’t you think? A sign of love and respect for a product!

I thought nothing else of it until I finished my eye look, and saw that a glint of pan was also peeking out at me from my single MAC shadow ‘Coquette’! Such is my love for this perfect crease shade, I have avoided depotting it as I like to be able to take it with me when I travel and find it easier in its original packaging. To have two pan hits in a single day might seem silly to some, but I went on to have a great day and it seems that the dual pan hit indeed brought me the luck I craved for the day!

How often do you hit pan? Does it make you feel good, or disappointed that you’re almost out of a much loved beauty product?

  1. Gosh I never hit the pan! I've got eye shadows from the 80s... I guess it's cause I don't use lots of make-up. But I do have mixed feelings about finishing a product, happy that I get to try something else from my collection, and sad because it's over.

    1. I tend to wear makeup everyday, but definitely still find it difficult to hit pan regularly! I think I will be really sad when my limited edition colours are gone, but I want to purchase these two again at some point

  2. Wow! I haven't seen pan in a long time but dying to. It's best when you discover a good routine and just stick with it. More than the pans, I'm glad you're happy with the shadows. :)

    1. Pan feels so - so- good! MAC Coquette is pretty much made for my crease, I couldn't imagine a much better everyday crease colour for me which is pretty awesome. I bought it randomly at the Estee Lauder staff store/CCO on a whim and have loved it ever since!

  3. I also recently hit pan in my Maybelline Colour Tattoo! I've never hit pan in a powder eyeshadow or a blush, though, so I'm currently working my way through some of those in my collection. I've become really engrossed in the project pan community especially on youtube. They're so inspiring about using up products and seeing the amount of time and effort that goes into using up your collection. It seems silly but it is a real sense of accomplishment. I'm glad that you could share yours with us :]

    1. Well done on your pan hit! Hitting pan on blush is a wonderful thing too, hope you have that happen soon :) I love reading pan and minimalist posts on blogs, I find it really inspires me even though I'm totally not at their level

    1. Haha yeah I guess I can understand that, both of these shadows for me have a heap of product left to go still! Which is a good thing, and a bad thing ;)

  5. I've only ever hit pan on powders. I haven't hit pan on blushes or eye shadows before! Wait, once upon a time, before I was a blogger, I did hit pan on an Estee Lauder eye shadow :-)

    1. The curse of being a beauty blogger, right?! I love hitting pan on powders too, I want to finish up some of my pans soon (like my MAC MSFN and my Maybelline powder)

  6. Hahah, Emma, I totally understand your excitement over hitting pan on two products in one day! I always get ridiculously proud when I see a tiny sliver of pan peeking at me :) I've hit the bottom on the Maybelline Bad to the Bronze recently too - seriously, those cream eyeshadows are pretty challenging to use up.

    1. I seriously couldn't believe my luck! I ended up having the best luck that whole day ;) I didn't even realise I was close to hitting pan on my Bad to the Bronze, I think the thick glass bottom is an illusion of more room for me ha

    1. The fact that YOU aka the queen of empties, has yet to hit two pans in a day, makes me so proud of myself ;P You still smash makeup empties though, I need to work on that for sure

  10. I loveeee hitting pan but it seriously rarely happens to me, so it must be so exciting hitting pan on 2 items in the same day! I hit pan on my Hoola a few months ago and now I'm about 95% done with it so I'm using it religiously! Can't wait to finish it fully!
