Currently Obsessed

I've been feeling really good about my makeup collection lately - a few new and exciting pieces have spiced up my routine and have made me enjoy putting on my face each and every morning. I've also rediscovered an old favourite at the back of my stash to pair with the new products which is always a good thing - stash shopping at its finest, amiright?

I was looking back over some older blog posts (like this 'The 6 Best Bronzers for Fair Skin') and remembered how intense my love for the Clinique Superbalanced Bronzer* was, so pulled it from the depths of my drawers. Then I did a little hunting around on the internet and I think that it has been discontinued! Isn't it the worst feeling when something you love isn't around anymore? I've been using it flat stick this month and my love for it has grown, so I thought it worth mentioning in case you have it hidden away in your collection, too! I've been pairing it with my new Max Factor Crème Puff Blush in Nude Mauve, which has seriously impressed me and has become my 'work blush' of choice.

Even though I've been loving bronzer and neutral blush lately, my appreciation of the colour pink has slowly been seeping back into my makeup life, too. The first product that really sparked this turn is also the newest recruit to my blush drawers - Physicians Formula Argan Wear Ultra-Nourishing Argan Oil Blush in Rose. Not only is the embossing utterly beautiful, the colour itself is a great pink shade for me and I find that it brightens up my complexion nicely and is buildable, too.

I've also fallen head over heels for a new eyeshadow formula - a cream one at that, which is not usually my fortay! I saw a few whispers about the new Revlon Photoready Eye Art Lid+Line+Lash colours but it wasn't until this post from The Mustard Jumper that I decided I needed one, stat. I went to Priceline when Revlon was 40% off because at the full price of $21.95 it was just too much of a risk for me...turns out that I absolutely adore these! I initially bought Peach Prism because the other neutral was sold out, but I managed to track down Topaz Twinkle at Priceline near my work so I was happy with that. I am considering buying the green version at some stage, but will wait for another sale for that one.

I love reinvigorating my stash and feel like I'm at a much better place than I was in previous years when it comes to new purchases and shopping habits. I put a lot more thought into the things that I buy (and those that I accept for consideration) and it really shows in my attitude to my collection and how I feel about blogging about things these days.

  1. Damn it when favourites are discontinued! I think my beloved Cappuccino, Please! eye shadow has been discontinued by Essence too, otherwise I would have been contemplating a third pan soon :p

My absolute latest obsession has been with brown-red lipstick. I had my hair tinted strawberry blonde over the weekend so now I have to have the right brick red lipstick to match - oh the fun of being obsessed with makeup!

    1. It's so frustrating isn't it? I'm pretty sure I have a pan of Cappuccino, Please! that I should crack into, now that I've used up most of Virgin from the UD Naked Palette.

Ooh strawberry blonde sounds lovely - I saw a bunch of nice red lip pencil/crayon stick things on the Bobbi Brown counter last week, have you tried those? I want to try them or perhaps the Nars pencils

  2. I actually have the Clinique bronzer but I haven't opened it because I'm not sure whether I want to keep it or not. I may end up giving it a go because it sounds great!

    1. Oh really?! I love it, and I'm really really not a bronzer lover in the slightest! It is pretty awesome and fun to use with the grinder, haha

    1. I am thinking of grabbing another shade since I like this one so much, but for now I'll just enjoy this. It's a blush I can picture myself hitting pan on for sure, it's great

  4. Isn't it a great feeling to be enjoying what you already have with a small sprinkling of some new purchases? I've been abstaining from make-up shopping this month, but next month Mr. is traveling to London, and I think I'll send him on his merry way with a bit of a shopping list... :) That Max Factor blush looks gorgeous in your photo!

    1. It feels so good and very realistically sustainable too - I'm not limiting myself too much but not buying junk I won't wear just because it's pretty, either! I think a UK shopping list is a wonderful idea - my best friend just hit up Sephora Canada for me and I am so excited about that!

  5. Gosh don't think I'm obsessed with any beauty products at the moment, just lots and lots of stationery and planning paraphernalia. WHAT IS HAPPENING TO ME?!

    1. Well that is a change, for sure! No skincare products that are knocking your socks off Tine?
I am really enjoying my Personal Planner but need to get better at decorating it, need to haul some Etsy stuff I think!

  7. Really lovely products.... I MISS REVLON SO MUCH!! :'(
I have come to the decision that from July 11th I will not buy anymore beauty products (going to a huge shopping mall on the 11th) :P
I have too much stuff and I really do not need more... I´m gonna shop my own collection from now on :)

    1. I still find it astounding like a brand as big as Revlon isn't available for you anymore! Looking forward to seeing your last haul for a while ;)
