Beauty Fail // Garnier Clean Sensitive Gentle Eye Makeup Remover

I am generally quite happy to try new things when it comes to makeup removers, particularly eye makeup removers. I saw this Garnier Clean Sensitive bottle on sale, and threw it into my basket without a second thought. I assumed that because it was for sensitive eyes it would be a safe risk, and the lack of perfume, alcohol and colouring were good signs.
As well as finding the low price point a positive thing (I think I paid around $6 for this on sale) I liked the sturdy but lightweight bottle, and the opening looked like a winner. Once I used it, however, these positive features couldn't distract me from the fact that this product does not perform well for me.
I tend to wear quite a bit of eye makeup on a day to day basis, eyeshadow is one of my favourite things to apply and loads of mascara is always a must. This barely takes off the lightest of eyeshadow, and trying to remove mascara with it is the most frustrating task I've undertaken in quite a while. I tried removing makeup from one of my eyes with a cotton pad soaked in water, and to be honest there wasn't much difference in the results. The Garnier remover also left my eyes feeling tight and dry, and I couldn't go without my eye cream immediately after using it.

Garnier Clean Sensitive Gentle Eye Makeup Remover
Pros:
-Attractive, lightweight and easy to use packaging
-Lack of perfume, alcohol or colouring is a plus
-Well priced and often on sale
-Does not leave my eyes looking red

Cons:
-Does not remove basic eye makeup effectively
-Leaves my eyes feeling tight and dry

I would love to see some comments below on which eye makeup removers you like, and which you dislike! I am a fan of the Face of Australia remover, and the Clinique Take The Day Off remover. Dual-phase trend, I suspect. I know Garnier also make a dual-phase remover as well, and I am going to give it a go and hope that it is better than this one.

If you have had a better experience with this remover, do let me know below!

*I paid for this with my own money. Honesty, always.

  1. I haven't used this one before. My favourite is actually the Neutrogena oil-free one in the purple bottle that you have to shake up. It's also less than $10 and takes off everything, although I don't wear waterproof mascara so I don't know how it works with that.

    1. @olgiepolgie I wouldn't recommend it. I was thinking of trying that Neutrogena one, I don't wear waterproof mascara either so hopefully I will love it too.

  2. I've never actually used this one as a friend recommended I buy the one in the bigger bottle (doesn't say specifically for eyes) - and I did, and I've never turned back! I'm actually pretty well convinced that the Garnier Make Up Remover, the famous L'Oreal Paris Waterproof Eye Make Up Remover and the Lancome Bi Facil Make Up Remover are all the same product, just in slightly different oil to water ratios. Makes sense when they're all made by the same company! But Garnier wins for best cost - I've gone through oodles of bottles of this!

  3. The Nuetrogena ones are pretty decent, I've also tried the other garnier one where you need to shake it it makes my skin so oily and gross. Shame about this garnier one

  4. I really love the L'Oreal one, the one that says for eyes and lips on the front. They have two and I haven't tried the other but apparently it's terrible! It is a dual layer one too!

  6. I've only ever used the 2 in 1 remover & its fantastic. The oil in water solution really gets everything off. I love it but i think i love my face of australia one a wee bit better.

  8. I like the Face of Australia remover you got me onto, its such good value for money. I want to try the Bioderma Crealine H20 but am waiting for my FOA to finish and its still going strong for over 3 or 4 months now with about 1/4 of the bottle left, and I usually at least use it on mascara daily so am gonna have to wait a while!!

  10. I have this too and I'm not the biggest fan, I find the face version of this, which is bigger and has half oil and half cleansing water, to be heaps better! It is more gentle on the eyes and the oil dissolves the makeup better. I only tried this one because I loved the face one... but I am going straight back to the face one.
