Clarins Odyssey Eye Quartet Mineral Palette

I am a major fan of Clarins collections, and as soon as the Odyssey collection hit counters I snatched up the Eyeshadow Palette with gusto. The neutral shades are something I know I will wear, and the gold leaf style shade within it was perfect for the festive season, and terribly pretty on the eye. I love the solid compact that the Clarins palettes are housed in, and the pattern atop the lid is just the icing on a very pretty cake.

The shadows are mineral based and smooth to apply, though the gold shade is very unique to my collection. It feels as though it lies between a cream and pressed gold leaf style of shadow, but I experience minimal fallout each time I use it on the eye. The other three shades are on the sheer side, which makes this palette a wearable choice for those in corporate workplaces or who prefer a light eye look. I tend to go for intense and pigmented shadows, but these still satisfy my shadow needs and I use them quite frequently.

The sponge tip applicators are something I don’t use, but for the eye look below I did use them to pack on the golden shade to the inner portion of my lid. I have only worn the gold packed on, but have seen other reviews of this palette where the gold has been blended out to produce a metallic golden sheen to the eye, which is something I’m interested in trying.

I decided to try out the suggested eye look that accompanies this palette, to show you how it would look. Since then, I’ve tried out more neutral looks forgoing the gold shade, but this is definitely the most striking for photographs.

The Clarins Odyssey Eye Quartet retails around the $50 AUD mark and though I haven’t seen it at the smaller Clarins counters, it is still out at the Melbourne Myer on Bourke Street.
What do you think of the Clarins Odyssey Eyeshadow palette? Do you gravitate towards neutral palettes like this?

*I personally purchased this palette. Honesty, always.

  1. Oooh that metallic gold is sooo "pwetty"! Very neutral shades there and look smooth, even though you did say they were smooth.

    1. @Norlin it is such a stunning shade. They would be perfect for you because they aren't crazily pigmented, and they are very smooth :)

    1. @Ninni it is so frustrating when brands aren't available everywhere, often it is Australia that misses out. I do hope you manage to get your hands on it!

    1. @Saumya it is a very beautiful palette, I love the shadows from Clarins and also their new face powder is about to come out and that looks nice as well. I was sent it to review but am yet to try it, will let you know how it fares :) I haven't seen the Chai Latte quad, name sounds delish though.

    1. @Leanne I am great at forgetting that I own certain products and so they get neglected, I'm happy that I've been using this a lot :)

  8. That is a beautiful palette that should suit most skintones. I can't believe that I have never tried a Clarins product. As a beauty blogger that will now have to be rectified :-) Especially after seeing how beautiful that looks both in the palette and on your eyes. Thanks for sharing. x

    1. @Jacqueline The pigmentation is nice and natural on the eye, which I love. Then again, the gold shade is definitely a stand out!

  10. GASP! I've been lusting after this since it hit the blogosphere and I'm impressed every time I see a review! I'm on a spending ban, which really cuts me up inside as I want this so bad! This is going on my wishlist NOW! :D

    1. @sweetaholic-beauty I was lusting over it for so long before it came out, was so happy to get my hands on it. Hopefully it is still out when your spending ban is over, how long do you have to go?

  11. I really wanted to get this and I probably could have, though last time I looked for it, it was sold out at DJs and Myer. The gold is stunning and pretty much 80% of the reason I'd buy this palette - it looks beautiful on you! But not sure about the other 3 shades, even though I love my neutrals.

    1. @sleepandwater Oh I didn't realise it was selling so well. I quite like the other neutral shades, but I suppose it depends on what you already have and what you tend to use.

  12. This looks a little like the Tom Ford Coganc quad -- I love that most of the shades are matte.

    1. @The Procratinator I haven't seen the TF Cognac quad yet, to be honest I've been avoiding the counters to avoid temptations, but if it is like this it sounds nice :)

    1. @yessie I think a lot of people think of them as older sort of makeup, but they are so on trend with their colour collections in my opinion :) Definitely worth a swatch or two x
