Working on using up my older beauty products is
an enjoyable process for me – it’s reminded me of how lovely some of the products are, but has also
forced me to appreciate just how great some of the newer products in my stash are.
It’s made me rethink that moment in the store when I used to buy ‘new’ but
mediocre formulas and shades, and made it clear that that was not only a waste
of money but distracted me from the quality within my drawers. Having a makeup
stash full of wonderful, exciting and stellar products is my end goal I
suppose, and I’m happily plodding my way through some of the beauty targets set
out in my Project Use It Up in this makeup look.
A trick that I’ve found to work when I’m
consciously using up something is to add a new or exciting product into the mix
with it, to spice things up and keep yourself from going completely mad (if you’re
like me and love to switch products all the time!) This time around I pulled
out my Chanel Poesie eyeshadow palette; it’s one of the newest additions to my
makeup drawers and creates such an effortless eye look. I then added in some of
the ‘Project Use It Up’ contestants, the pan-tastic NYX ‘Peach’ Blush and my
Clinique Chubby Stick ‘Whole Lotta Honey.’ Not yet in my project purely because I forgot
to include it is my mini pan of Nars ‘Laguna’ Bronzer – let’s consider this
mention his official induction into the challenge, shall we?
There has been a big change for me in the hair department – I felt like a new woman when I walked out of the hairdressers with a fringe (or bangs, as my American friends call it!) I have a post forthcoming on the hair products I’ve switched over to, but for now I’d love to hear your tips on using up products and what you think of this simple, everyday makeup look!

You are so cute in your fringe! Lovely.
ReplyDeleteAw thank you so much I appreciate it!
DeleteYou can totally finish these! What are your thoughts on Laguna?

I don't love Laguna as much as others seem to - seems a bit harder to blend than other bronzers I have, like the Body Shop Honeycomb bronzer which is brilliant.
DeleteLove all the pan action and your new fringe! (Bangs, lol!) I like that Rimmel matte bb too. You look so soft and glowy here. Lovely!
ReplyDeleteLOL my family from America always call them bangs and it makes me laugh so much - it's a fringe!!! I totally thought 'soft and glowy' when I saw these pictures too haha
DeleteWoohoo, pan!! Love seeing that :) I am always on the use-it-up quest; right now it's hard as I'm barely wearing makeup, not leaving the house much with the new wee one in my life - but yesterday I pulled a handful of products (ie 3 lippies, 3 blush, etc) to use only for the spring season. I'm hoping consistent use over the next 3 months will help me whittle away a few things. Good luck on your own endeavors!!
ReplyDeleteIt's one of my favourite things to see in a post, pan action all the way! I sometimes think that makeup-less days are hindering my efforts to use things up but it's a reality of life and brings me back down to earth - I can always give products away if they stress me out too much :) I love the idea of picking out products to use for a season though, rotates and uses things up at the same time :)
DeleteI'm so jealous of your lashes!! I commend you on your new hair!! It looks fresh and lovely. I still cannot make the plunge to get a fringe myself!
ReplyDeletexx Kat @ Katness
Thank you - my sisters and brother have gorgeous blue eyes but I have the longest lashes to make myself feel better, lol! I felt so amazing when the hairdresser chopped it off, a nice risk that I am enjoying (though I am in dire need of a trim right now!)
DeleteIt's so much fun trying to use up products! I'm currently doing a weekly makeup basket or shop my stash to stream line my morning makeup application and make sure I'm focusing on products that need to be moved out!
ReplyDeletemissjulziez.blogspot.com.au
I really can't wait until the glosses and lipstick is gone, I think the achievement will feel amazing :) Streamlining your everyday makeup products is a great idea to save precious time in the morning, I love that
DeleteI so need to start using up some of my makeup as well - "Project Use It Up" is such a good idea. I have a tendency to get a new product, fall totally in love with it and then neglect my older products!
ReplyDeleteIt's so easy to have that happen, new things are so exciting and FRESH! But it feels amazing to be buying less and using up more these days, I feel positive about the whole thing most of the time
DeleteEmma I adore this hair on you! It looks so soft and healthy too!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy actively going back to old products to try to use them up too, you are doing pretty well judging by all the pans you've hit. I need to try and track my progress too! Your eyelashes are to die for
Chloé⎪ status.chlo
Thank you Chloe! It was so soft and fluffy on this day, ha!
DeleteI think I stalled for a while on these products so I'm happy to be back making dents in them and getting them outta here for good!
Your hair cut looks great, I love the way fringes look, but I find having one on myself irritating so I've learnt to avoid going there again lol. The Chanel quad looks pretty I've been eyeing them off, considering tisse rivoli hmm.
ReplyDeleteGlad you like it Jade! Feels like so much length is gone now! It does drive me nuts every now and again but I pin it back often which I also like the look of. Tisse Rivoli is stunning and super similar to Poesie - I tossed up between the two before choosing the limited edition just to have something different. I would totally love Tisse Rivoli too but they are so so close that I can't justify it.
DeleteI love your fringe! Also love seeing pan! I need to concentrate more on using things up too.
ReplyDeleteYou look so darn adorable in your bangs :)
ReplyDeleteI love bangs... Ive had them my whole life :)
That Chanel quad is really stunning :)
