Sometimes the mood just calls for a pretty glitter nail, and
by sometimes I mean 80% of my life. I have glitter polishes coming out of my
ears and I struggle to finish a manicure without throwing a little somethin’
somethin’ atop at least one of my digits. Surprisingly, BYS are among the best
quality glitters I’ve had the pleasure of wearing, so I thought it best to
share my wisdom on affordable and schmexy glitter toppers with you!
A nice traditional glitter polish in a new colour
combination came my way in the form of Confetti Conga*, a mix of
blue, burnt orange, purple and fuschia hexes in a clear base (peek my manicure with Confetti Conga!) This isn’t something I wear all that often, but love
how unique the colour combination is compared to the rest of my glitter stash.
My very favourite type of glitter from BYS (and in general)
is their more opaque offerings. Part of the 3D Special Effects range
these can be worn easily by themselves (3-4 thin coats) or over the top of
another shade with great results. I am going to eventually own every opaque
glitter BYS offers, and I’m going to get back-ups of Cold as Ice just in
case I can’t find it when this bottle runs out. I have a feeling it might be my
favourite polish of all time, especially after seeing Vita’s manicure with it
layered over a black base (something I am yet to try!) I’m
also lusting after this shade after seeing Vita’s swatch. Seriously, her blog
is bad for my already-bulging polish drawers!
When I heard that BYS
were launching bar (or splinter) glitter I literally squealed with excitement.
This is a nail trend I’ve always found intriguing, but I wasn’t willing to fork
out $20+ to find out if it was a trend I would wear frequently. The low price
point means these are much more accessible to those on a tighter budget (fellow
uni students can I hear you holler?!) VIP* gives a golden glint to a
mani while Hit the Jackpot* treads the line between lilac and purple
perfectly (and is my favourite of the two!) It’s something I’ve been wearing
quite often now that I’m easing my way into appreciating purple, and my next
mani will be this layered over a silver shade I think.
BYS polishes are available from Fashion Addict!
Which shade do you think it nicest out of the glitters I've shared today?

always.
Fave for me...confetti conga and the cold as ice. I love cold as ice because you can layer it on so many different coloured nail polish to create so many looks!!! :)
ReplyDelete@Norlin great choices, yep Cold as Ice is a stellar shade from BYS, head over heels for it.!
DeleteI love the look of Glitter Topper!
ReplyDelete@olgiepolgie It is like a purpled version of Cold as Ice, I love it!
DeleteAhhhhhhhhhhhhh! I've had such bad experiences with BYS Glitter lacquers, but those Splinters look so interesting! Along with Confetti Conga... Meep. I may just have to give them another try... soon :P
ReplyDelete@Tram Really?! I am yet to have a bad experience with their glitters, maybe I've been lucky? Give them a try and let me know how you go okay? x
DeleteOh my, such gorgeousness!
ReplyDeleteIf I really had to pick, I'd go with either Cold as Ice or Hit the Jackpot!
They are all so lovely, though, I must say I have been very happy with the quality of the BYS polishes I own!
xx
@Nalini Thanks! I love those two as well, some really nice toppers in the range :)
DeleteThey are so pretty! I love the Revlon glitter nail polish too- I think it's about £6, but a pain to get off! How easy are these ones to remove? x ellacatherine1.blogspot.co.uk/
ReplyDelete@Ella Catherine Ah the Revlon polishes are over $20 here, so expensive I think they are the same price as Illamasqua ones. These don't bother me, but I have a bit of patience when it comes to removing glitters (tip: watch a YouTube video as you do it!)
DeleteOoooh I like Confetti Conga! Such a unique mix of glitter!
ReplyDelete@Annick that is what I thought, too!? Not a colour combo you see too regularly.
DeleteOooh confetti conga looks the best to me - a bit of everything in that one so it would go well with so many colours!
ReplyDeleteI haven't used BYS polishes for a long time (basically because I have too many other polishes on the go lol!) but I am now tempted to check these glittery ones out.
Thank you for taking the time to come out on the weekend was great to meet you! :)
@Sarah Yes I think that Confetti Conga could go with a lot of different base colours. It was great to meet up with you in person, looking forward to a trip to Adelaide sometime in the future so you can show me the stars of Radelaide :)
DeleteThink you'd love Japan, they have a tonnes of glitter nail polishes!
ReplyDelete@Maria I think I would go absolutely mental shopping in Japan!
DeleteLove that combo you did with Wet Cement! So pretty. I really like the look of Confetti Conga as I'm such a sucker for chunky, multicoloured glitter. I haven't really looked into BYS because I bought Shadow Puppets 2-3 years ago and I hated it ... might have to give them another go though!
ReplyDelete@sleepandwater Thank you, that means a lot coming from my nail inspo ;P Give the BYS glitters another go, they are cheap enough and I think they must've worked on the formula over the years and perfected it :)
DeleteConfetti Conga look amazing :)
ReplyDeleteIt remind me of a polish that I won but can´t use. It is way too thick and when I apply it the glitter does not stick to my nail so I have to dab it on, but since its so thick, I can´t dab it on my nails :/
Hugs
xx
@shortylegsbeauty Can you try to thin it out at all? I know OPI have something that you drip into gloopy polishes to make them apply nicely, have you heard of that one? Not sure of the name of it though. x
DeleteJust my kind of post - glitter polishes!!! I agree Cold As Ice is a spectacular top coat over a dark base. I'm actually heading over to the Fashion Addict website tonight to order some more BYS pretties :)
ReplyDelete@Vita Right up your alley! Loved that mani you did with the dark base under Cold as Ice, I would've never thought of that myself.
