Maybelline Vivids // Photos, Swatches, Review // Pink Pop, Vivid Rose, Hot Plum, Vibrant Mandarin + Neon Red

When the rumours spread that Maybelline were launching a new line full of super bright lipsticks, I was on high alert! I can be quite brave when it comes to lip colours, and so I ended up picking up a few tubes from the line to try. Now that I’ve had some time to wear them and figure out which are my favourites, I thought it time to share some swatches with you!

I dabbled in each section of the colour spectrum with my choices (all of which I bought from Priceline, some on sale and others full price)

Pink Pop:  a pale blue based pink, not the easiest shade to wear but one I definitely like having in my collection.

Vivid Rose: a dark pink with rose undertones, this is one of my favourite from the line and leaves a great stain when it wears off which is why I like to wear it to work.

Hot Plum: another favourite, this is bright magenta pink is unique in my stash, and I love how it manages to be super bright but still really wearable.

Vibrant Mandarin: I tend to wear orange shades like this when the weather heats up, so I haven’t shown this too much love yet. I love adding orange lip colours to my collection, as whenever I try to find ‘the one’ for a day out I struggle – the more the merrier for the orange lip drawer!

Neon Red: this is an orange toned red that I haven’t shown much love to (I tend to prefer dark berry tones for winter) but it applies really nicely.

I think this range is definitely worth a swatch, especially when Maybelline are on special at Priceline as they so often are. If I could only keep two from the collection Hot Plum + Vivid Rose would have to stay, as they wear really nicely and leave a nice even stain behind which make them nice and long wearing. I haven’t found any of these shades to bleed at all and they are creamy and comfortable to wear and never dry out my lips. I will note that because they are quite creamy they do leave marks on coffee cups and wear away if you are eating, but the stain saves the situation and they are easy enough to reapply. I have always loved the Maybelline Colour Sensational range but wasn't excited by the overly brown toned range, so this was a welcome addition to the Maybelline family for me, and something I think the brand really needed to revitalise their traditional lipstick image!
Maybelline Colour Sensational Lipsticks retail for $16.95 AUD.

Have you a penchant for bright lips?

Which of these would you buy?

*I purchased all of these. Honesty, always.

    1. @Larie Yep, they are mega bright! Very happy with how pigmented they are, brilliant for a drugstore. I will be sure to have a FOTD with them soon :)

  2. I'm a convert to sheer lip colours ever since the Revlon Lip Butters were released so these are scary to me! They've got such a pretty colour range. I'm so envious that you can pull off orange toned lip colours, I don't think they suit me at all. :( x

    1. @Michelle I still adore my sheer lip colours as well (yesterdays post a good example!) but sometimes a good bright pop is brilliant in cold weather :) I think orange toned lip products can be hard to flatter, I think the key is to try as many as you can until you find something that makes you look (and feel!) good! I had to do that to work out what sort of reds were best for me, and it was well worth it!

  3. I love bright lippie! Every time I go to buy these though, Priceline is out! Even when I went to Chemist Warehouse, they were all sold out! Boo! Guess I'll have to wait for all the girls in my local area to get bored of bright lips haha! :P

    1. @Jasmine Sad to hear that you can't get your hands on them-the displays near me have been pretty well stocked! Have you checked any of the stores in the city, maybe they get more regular deliveries? I think the bright pinks in this collection would really suit you.

    2. I haven't been to the city in a while, so next time I head in I'll definitely check! And thanks! :D

    1. @Sarah I think Hot Plum would look amazing on you- the best thing to do if you are scared of bright lips is dab it on for a stained look, before you get brave and rock it hard !

    1. Thanks for your comment Sharlynn, I agree they scream summer and sun to me but my favourite time to wear them is when it is grey out-really lifts the spirit, you know? I'd love to hear how you go once you get around to wearing them :)

  9. These were a fantastic launch from Maybelline - I really had to control myself to not get more than the already ridiculous number I have. I like Pink Pop but I tried it out last night and oh my goodness it looks crapola on me LOL.

    1. @sleepandwater Definitely one of their best launches, I remember your posts on them ;P Pink Pop is one of the tricky ones, has to be on the right tone to work really! I often see pale pink lips on blonde girls and wish I could rock it like that, sigh, one can dream right?

I've been meaning to review these for ages!

I have hot plum, vivid rose and shocking coral, and I love all three! I actually keep getting stopped by the makeup artists while walking around Myer wearing these, they all want to know what I'm wearing! :)
