lllamasqua Fire Rose // Shattered Star Nail Varnish from the Glamore Collection

Textured nail polishes seem to polarize people - I tend to only reach for them when I'm rushing out the door to go somewhere and don't feel like rocking bare nails. They are easy as pie to swipe on, forgiving on crappy nails thanks to all the pizazz and they dry really quickly, negating the need for smudge-proof top coats and the like.

They aren't always everyone's cup of tea though, and I find it a bit annoying that the glittery ones scratch at my skin if I come into contact with anything. I still can't get past a nice bit of sparkle though, so this Illamasqua Shattered Star nail varnish in Fire Rose* is easily my most reached for textured polish. Not too pale and girly, the silver glitters give just enough edge to make this the perfect pink for grown-up Barbie nails.

I've had a long-standing love affair with Illamasqua products, and have a good number of their palettes and blush pans in my makeup drawers. I've just rediscovered the Skin Base foundation and I don't really know why I ever stopped using it - either way, I'm almost at the bottom of the tube and need to repurchase soon. I only have a few of their nail shades, but have been pleasantly surprised by them and appreciate that they come out with fresh colours and ideas all the time. It's also worth noting that I've never received bad customer service from an Illamasqua counter, which is pretty amazing.
Illamasqua polishes normally retail for $23 from Myer but they seem to all be on sale at the moment, so hop down if you have a shade in mind (I'm thinking of picking up Nomad, does anyone have that colour?)

*Provided for consideration, but honestly my most reached for textured polish.

  1. I was a bit iffy when it came to textured polishes, then I found the IsaDora ones and I adore them :)
Illamasqua is a brand that I would LOVE to try out but we can´t buy it here (of course) :)

  2. This is so pretty! :-D

But it's really expensive over here and I cannot justify spending so much money on it :-|

    1. Oh that's no good, Illamasqua are one of the more affordable brands in Australia but I guess it comes down to what is available to you - I for one am looking forward to heading to the US to see some really cheap makeup for once!

  3. I have Trilliant, which I think is from the same collection? (Lighter pink glitter.) I was close to picking this up myself although glittery pink things are so not me! There's something so cheerful about these though. :)

    1. Oh yes I quite like the look of Trilliant - normally glittering pinks aren't my thing either, I'm more of a crème pink gal!

  4. I love my textured polishes! I was totally prepared to let the trend pass me by but once I got onto it I was hooked - this pink is truly pretty too! :)

  5. Lovely shade! I'm a huge fan of Illamasqua polishes but I've never tried these textured ones. They surely are a pain in the neck to remove but they look so pretty on the nails we can totally ignore that ;)

    1. I really want to try some more of the Illamasqua nail polishes (not that I need more polishes!) as I've only got this one and some of the special effect ones (speckled one and some top coat glitters I think)
