I've been feeling quite restless when it comes to beauty and skincare lately - I've been yearning to try new products but the thought of dishing out the dosh has me feeling hesitant! My thoughts turned to my overflowing stash of samples, sadly spread haphazardly across my bathroom and beauty room...This sample project post (brilliantly titled "Use Up Those Freakin' Samples!") on Rocaille Writes spurred me to think of these sachets and tubes as an opportunity rather than a nuisance.

a gorgeous bunch of samples |
An opportunity to review some fresh beauty products is always welcome, and so my plan is to begin my very own sample challenge of sorts. I'm going to pop up Insta-reviews as I use up samples (using Monika's hashtag!) and also compile some review posts for each bunch of products, as a way of recording my feelings about all of the new things I'm trying. For now I'm not setting myself any real targets and will be happy to bid adieu to the various bits and bobs I have lying around, but I want this to be an enjoyable process and so I won't be strict about not accumulating more sample products - hey, if Chanel are happy to throw in samples with purchase who am I to refuse!?

Just a small selection of my fragrance samples, including Bleu de Chanel for Mister that we received last weekend while out window shopping! |

primer packets and tubes, oh my! |
The main idea is to stop hoarding these little packets away as I am prone to do - I'm looking forward to trying out some new perfumes, pitting the many primer samples against each other and generally having some fun playing around with new-to-me products without any commitment!
Have you got a shed load of sample products squirreled away?
What tips do you have for using and enjoying them all?
-Emma
Oh, man! My sample stash is huge, and I rea should start using stuff.
ReplyDeleteI'm having so much fun using the stuff, instead of just hoarding it like I usually do!
Delete*really (yikes, autocorrect!)
ReplyDeleteI have like a thousand testers laying around my home... I try to finish some of them when I change skin care. But still - the collection keeps increasing. I try to give away the testers that do not interest me and I also bring a lot in my gym bag so I do not need to carry fulsize products.
ReplyDeleteThey are good tips, I need to give a bunch away too I think!
DeleteI've been using up my samples lately too. I divided them into the stuff I actually want to try and stuff I'm going to give away. Sometimes we get into hoarding samples because getting freebies are fun, but then the stash starts to accumulate to a ridiculous degree. I've put the stuff I want to try in the bathroom where I am sure to see them and bust open a pack once in a while. Previously they were in my bedroom in three different places. Go for the travel sized skin care items with pumps because I discovered several that don't dispense anything and realized I would have been screwed if I had taken them on a trip.
ReplyDeleteI need to do that split as well, most of the things I'm happy to use but others I think I will give to my sisters or something. I've been really good this week at using more samples and already have an updated post in the works with mini reviews (and am posting mini reviews on Insta already too!)
DeleteYay, thank you for joining in and link love, Emma! You're so right, this should be more about the opportunity to try new products rather than trying to empty everything as quickly as possible. While so far, I have to say most of my samples didn't turn out to be spectacular, I have found some interesting things - most of them from the high end of the spectrum, unfortunately ;) That NARS eye primer is my favorite, by the way! I'll be on the lookout for your Instagram reviews.
ReplyDeleteThanks for being a constant inspiration and one of my very favourite blogs, Monika!
DeleteI'm still enjoying the feeling of adding to my empties but have already come across samples I don't want to continue using, so either way it is working at keeping me interested in trialling while diminishing my stash - win win!
i have SO many samples, and alot of them are cute hahaha which means they get hoarded ! My bathroom is being renovated at the moment & once it's finished i'm planning to put them in a cute 'candy buffet' style jar & leave them on the counter so i finally use them up lol
ReplyDeleteThe cute ones are hard to use up and toss aren't they? I like the idea of a jar for them, a pretty display for sure! I have been taking perfume samples in my bag to work and trialling one til it's done and that has really worked for me, am loving it.
DeleteI have to admit I dont enjoy samples. If they are in a small tube or a deluxe sample usable size, I quite enjoy them, if they are in the sachets, I dont event bother and mine usually get thrown away. I love perfume samples though and keep them in my makeup bag, so handy.
ReplyDeleteI don't mind body care in sachets and even skincare just to get the initial feel, but of course prefer larger samples so you can get a better idea of a product. Perfume samples are my favourite and I am burning through those fast already which I'm quite pleased about
DeleteI have way too many samples too! I keep them in makeup bags under my vanity but I need to bring them out! I can't wait to see your posts as you use them up!
ReplyDeleteYou should pluck out a few to work into your routine, it's fun! I have a project update already on the way as I've gotten off to a good start with things, it's keeping me very content at the moment :)
DeleteOh wow I really want to do this now!
