I am becoming obsessed with palettes, as seen in the palette swatch trend that seems to have taken over the blog lately. I have been loving buying little eyeshadow houses where all the colours are awesome and go well together, and the Complement Eyeshadow palette from the new Generation Q collection is no different.
I had been sent a few pieces from the collection, but when I saw the Complement Palette I whipped out my purse and took it home with me. The mix of colours create a lovely smokey plum look (which I am loving lately!) and I like the addition of a Liquid metal next to the powder eyeshadows. The makeup artist at Illamasqua was lovely, as they always are, and tried some of the colours on my eyes. I loved the look of the creamy Focus mixed with Forgiveness in my crease, and seeing it on really sealed the deal for me!
Slink is a frosted champagne beige which is similar to other colours I own, but I really can never have enough of these shades. The second shade along is Focus, a medium brown Liquid Metal with cool toned shimmer that almost appears duochrome to me. My favourite shade is Forgiveness, a matte plum that is so pretty in the crease. Last but not least is Queen of the Night, a deep purple with an almost black base that I am looking forward to trying out as an intense smoky eye.
I am happy to add another Illamasqua palette to my collection (see my Neutral palette review here!) and since I've been obsessed with plums and purples, I will be getting a lot of use from these shades.
Illamasqua have recently dramatically dropped their prices (causing me to drop cash there more frequently!) so this palette now retails for $53 AUD at Myer. There is another palette available, so if purple isn't your thing, I'd still check out the new collection! As I mentioned, I was kindly sent some other pieces from Generation Q so keep your eyes peeled for reviews of those, coming at you soon.
What do you think of these shades?
What eyeshadow colours do you own the most of?
What do you wear most often?
*I purchased this palette myself. Honesty, always.
Oh man, that looks like the PERFECT fall palette (fall here in Canada) but we don't get Illamasqua. Waaaah!!! Bet it looks gorgeous on you.
ReplyDeletethis looks gorgeous! So...where can I get myself an unlimited credit card like yours? ;)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous colours in this palette! I hate buying palettes because I hate clutter, but this may be an exception... ;)
ReplyDeleteAll the shades are gorgeous! They look like they'll really work well for a variety of looks. I hate when palettes have that one shade that doesn't really work with the others, you know?
ReplyDeleteIllamasqua is impressing me with the range and everyone is loving the products. Definitely going to put this one on my Christmas wish list!
ReplyDeleteI definitely won't use these colours, mainly because I don't do neutral/nude/brown shades at all! Having said that, I went by the counter and saw the nail polishes for this collection and promptly fell in love. Wahh!!
ReplyDeleteOh, I have recently entered a love affair with Illamasqua as well!
ReplyDeleteI am with you on your palette love, I adore when you can get several shadows/blushes all housed in the one, tidy compact! It makes it so easy to carry around and touch up on the go!
Love the shades in this palette too, and it looks amazing on your skintone!
