Bath & Body Works Australia Haul

I just returned home from a family holiday in Queensland, and I took the opportunity to pick up a few travel sized bits and pieces from one of my very favourite stores, Bath & Body Works! There are currently two Australian stores open and one is at Chadstone shopping centre in Victoria which is accessible for me, but I only go there about once a year at most so am yet to visit. The other store is at Pacific Fair in Queensland, and since I've only ever bought this brand while on holiday it seemed fitting to continue the trend and treat myself to a few new scents! My favourite product from this store would have to be their fragrance mists, and I love grabbing the travel sized versions which are 88ml and last a long time. This time around I also picked up a travel sized body lotion, and they had a deal on with any 3 travel sized body products coming to $25 AUD, so this haul came to $50 AUD.

Spring Skincare Haul

Over the last few weeks I picked up some new skincare products, some to replace things I've used up and others as back-ups or bargains I just couldn't pass by. This may constitute a rather small haul if you compare it to other beauty bloggers and their loot but I'm really looking forward to using these products!

I've raved about the Garnier Moisture Match moisturisers before, but I believe they have now been discontinued as I just can't find the blue version on shelves anymore. I was at a bargain centre recently and came across two boxes heavily discounted so I purchased one for my skincare back up box and one for my older sister who I think this would work wonderfully for. Another repurchase was my beloved La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo+, which is a saviour for acne-prone or just generally crappy skin days. A brand new purchase for me was a total bargain at $0.80c and I love the brand - Derma Sukin Daily Hydrating Wash!  I've actually seen some positive reviews on this product and need a bit of hydration at the moment so it was worth a try.

 I've seen quite a few peel off masks on YouTube and the like, so when I saw this Formula 10.0.6 Get Your Glow On Brightening Peel Off Mask advertised in my supermarket catalogue for half price I was mightily intrigued. I've only used this once but gosh it was satisfying to peel it off, and the scent was really lovely so I'm enjoying this.

See that little hole in the top of my Effaclar Duo+ tube? That would be my puppy Winston's doing, he obviously wanted lovely clear skin too! But how can I be mad at this face?!

I'm really drawn to the aesthetic of Aveeno and have had great success with their products in the past (the night cream and unscented body wash, to be exact) so I added this Aveeno Positively Radiant Cleanser to my stash. Now that I'm actually the kind of blogger who finishes up whole products I don't feel too bad about having unopened cleansers around when I know I'm going to use them - does anyone else feel this way too?

Too Faced Haul from Mecca Maxima

I've had a longstanding love affair with Too Faced that has been well documented on the blog, seen in this Boudoir look, St. Tropez look, Summer look and timely Gilded Ganache Chocolate look. The palettes just seem to be getting better and better, and indeed the entire product line is becoming more enticing and highly regarded among beauty bloggers and lovers alike. I was mightily tempted by some of the newly released products and after some generous sample testing (foundation) multiple swatch sessions (palette) and a well-timed Instagram post from a friend (Vita, for the blush wardrobe!) I bit the bullet and in two separate hauls, purchased these beauties.

As soon as I laid eyes on the Too Faced Love Flush Long Lasting 16-Hour Blush Wardrobe I knew that I was going to buy it, and thanked fate that I had missed the festive gift pack in December that contained mini's of the Too Faced blushes. I definitely reach for palettes more than I would petite blush pans, and despite owning a full size of one blush shade within the palette (Baby Love) I knew that the $53 price tag was brilliant for the value within the 'wardrobe'. Having featured in my current favourites I can definitely vouch for this blush palette, and have used all of the colours many times over and adore the formula.

The purchase of a mid-high end foundation is definitely a rarity at Camp Bovary - I trial some but ultimately rely on the drugstore for my base products and prefer to save my cosmetic money for palettes and blushes (real talk, I'm a blushfiend, ok?) I had tried two sample pots of the Too Faced Born This Way Oil-Free Undetectable Medium-Full Coverage Foundation and loved how it made my skin look, so I bit the bullet and added it to my online order when I was buying the blush wardrobe. I love how fast Mecca shipping is and the fact that you get to select which samples you'd like (how very US Sephora of them, love it!) I chose samples from Smashbox, Josie Maran and Malin & Goetz this time around. I adore how damn chic the foundation bottle looks - when you're paying that money, you can expect nice packaging, right? As an aside, I could have sworn I paid $58 AUD for this bottle but online it currently sits at $62...I've heard whispers of prices changing around regularly at Mecca, have you experienced this fluctuation?

Onto the most recent TF release in my haul (because I am holding back on the Peanut Butter & Jelly palette...for now...) the glorious Chocolate Bon Bons Palette! I swatched this and really liked the look of it at Mecca, but I was with my non-makeup loving sister who helped convince me that I didn't need it (don't you hate those kind of shopping pals?!) and I figured that I had enough palettes for now and that the colours were just okay. It seemed to stick in my mind for a few weeks though, and then I watched this Earl Grey tutorial and Café au lait tutorial from Mary at aLoveTart and I just couldn't stop myself any longer. The next time I was in Mecca I swatched the palette again and sighed - meant to be, for sure, how in the world did my sister sway me from this beauty?! It also took me into the first real tier of the Mecca Beauty Loop which was a nice bonus, I haven't really shopped for makeup in quite some time so it was nice to 'join the club' so to speak. I have a full review post and some makeup looks coming up with the palette, but suffice to say it's love.

Natural Supply Co Gift Guide

I'm curled up on the couch enjoying my day off with Charlie (my Cavalier!) and have spent an untold amount of time scrolling through the Natural Supply Co swooning over how lovely everything looks. This isn't a sponsored post or indeed even one that the lovely owners of the online store know about, but this blog was born from my passion (cough, obsession) for shopping and it's been a while since I've perused an online store to window shop. I actually finished my Christmas shopping back in November but am keeping an eye out for bargains just the same, and here are the best products I spotted at the Natural Supply Co!

Bite Beauty 5 Night Fix For Lips ($19.95)

I think this is such an adorable gift, it contains a deluxe mini Whipped Cherry Scrub Stick (genius idea by the way) and a deluxe mini Agave Lip Mask which is something I've always wanted to try. The jar it comes in is pretty adorable for gifting, too...

Lanolips Lemonaid Lip Aid ($15.95)
I actually have a tube of this and adore it - it really does have that lemonade tang to it and it's a lip balm type of product that is gifting worthy in my opinion. I hardly use this in winter as the balm becomes quite hard in the cold, so it's perfect for warmer weather like we Australian's are currently enjoying (okay, enjoying may be a strong word...)

Murchison-Hume Counter Intelligence All-Surface Spray -Original Fig ($13.60)

Now this may be the housewife in me coming out, but I'd love to try out this well-renowned cleaning brand! If you have friends or family who have just moved into a new place this could be perfect as part of a little cleaning pack for them, I love trying luxe cleaning products and fig sounds like a nice festive scent for December/January cleaning!

Kester Black Nail Polish - Forest ($20)

Swinging back around to beauty, I just had to include a shade from this Australian polish brand! Naturally I chose the Forest shade, such is my love and obsession with owning all the green polishes!

Lavanila Body Butter - Pure Vanilla ($19.95)

I've never tried this brand before but see it constantly on blogs and YouTube videos, and the scents are supposed to be delicious. Despite having enough body lotion and butter to sink a ship I'm always tempted by more, and the scent description for Pure Vanilla sounds lovely (though not pure vanilla...?) "The perfect vanilla, the Pure Vanilla scent combines a warm blend of Madagascar vanilla, heliotrope and soft freesia"

Bite Beauty High Pigment Pencil - Tulip (36.95)
I am a true fan of Bite Beauty and am currently turning my beauty room upside down to find my beloved Peche matte lip crayon and it's driving me crazy. I'd love to try more of their stuff and this 'soft cherry red' colour looks very pretty indeed, and would make a delightful gift for a sister or Mum!

Frank Green SmartCup ($29.95)

I'm really lusting over this, the colour combination is stunning and I take coffee to work from home everyday so this would be so handy for me. I'm currently using Keep Cups (which I love!) but I want to share the love around with my Moccona Caramel Coffee, ya know?!

Nilly & Booth Mandarin Chamomile Organic Cleansing Balm ($40)
I've saved the best for last - I've heard so much about this skincare brand and this cleansing balm sounds like just the ticket for any skincare enthusiast - I know it's on the top of my wishlist! I finished up my Clinique Cleansing Balm which is a basic staple, and now I want to try a more indulgent balm and this fits the bill perfectly.

Collective Haul - Mid 2015

I've fallen off the wagon when it comes to posting hauls...not only have I neglected to post about my kinda recent Colourpop haul, I haven't even touched on the glorious U.S honeymoon haul that happened at the end of last year! I think I'm going to round up a post on that as a way to prepare you for some upcoming reviews (and because I want to share the pretties!) but for now, here is a collective haul of what I've bought recently.

 

My obsession with tea knows no bounds, and I was excited to find this new Kromland Farm Organic Rooibos Caramel Tea on our weekly grocery shop. I found out about the Madame Flavour Tea Treats Mint Choc Rooibos when a friend posted about it on Facebook - she was not joking when she said it tasted amazing!

Not only am I addicted to tea this winter, I'm also addicted to adorable mugs! Despite having an overflowing mug cupboard as it is, I couldn't resist these patterns at Kmart when I went out shopping with my sister. The black and white is so chic and the watermelon one makes me happy - because of both the print and the fact that it holds HUGE amounts of peppermint tea for me!

I've tried to stop myself from accumulating more polishes but am currently working one a 'one in, one out' policy which seems to alleviate guilt a wee bit. The W7 'Red Debris' glitter screamed Christmas to me, and the Essie Ruffles and Feathers is a back up of the bottle I received in a PR parcel - I love it enough to need a back-up, trust me on that one! I found the Sensationail Gel Polishes on sale for $5 at Target and couldn't help but pick them up to add to my gel nail stash. I chose the shades Coral Sunset, Pink Chiffon and Pink Daisy. I also picked up one of the new Rita Ora for Rimmel shades (not pictured); that collection is seriously stunning by the way!

On the makeup front I'm doing quite well at choosing quality over quantity - I picked up two new Chanel Joues Contraste Blushes from the new Fall/Autumn 2015 collection (post up soon!) along with the Covergirl Full Lash Bloom mascara. I also grabbed the new Fragrance Mist of Britney Spears Curious (seen here in my Favourites!) and my sister picked up a tube of my beloved La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo + during the Priceline 40% sale.

I've really been focusing on reducing my stash and seriously thinking about products before purchasing them and it seems to be working quite well for me. We have a few upcoming weekends away planned that we are saving for and it's a great excuse to shop my own stash more often which is more enjoyable now than it has ever been! We're also heading overseas in 6 months and my ideal plan is a big Bath & Body Works haul...a reasonable dream, right?!

Haircare Haul from Priceline's 40% Sale

Two haul posts in one week - what is going on in the Bovary household?!

I wasn't intending for this many of my posts to be shopping related, but as soon as I heard that Priceline were having their famous 40% off haircare sale I knew I wanted to pick up a few bits and pieces that I'd had my eye on. What I really wanted was the full size of the L'Oreal Elnett Satin Hairspray (Normal Hold) but unfortunately it was sold out, so I settled for the travel size instead which should keep me going (I first professed my love for this here!) I'm planning on heading out to another Priceline today to try my luck for the full size as it's such a great product.

To console myself after seeing that my regular hairspray was out I grabbed a travel size of a new 'fixing' spray I've not yet tried, Schwarzkopf Taft (Mega Strong Hold) Now that I'm rolling with a high maintenance fringe I'm really enjoying trialling lots of different hairsprays - do you have a favourite I should know about?

The third and final bit I picked up was a spur of the moment thing - I'm always up for trying a new hair mask and my thick long hair tends to appreciate that, so I plumped for the Schwarzkopf Moisture Gloss 10 Days Shine Mask...let's be honest, it was the holographic packaging that pushed me over the edge for this one! I was a bit let down when I returned home to see that the tub itself wasn't all glitzy ocean like I'd expected, but hopefully the formula works for me and makes it worth my while.

Beauty Haul from RY

It's been a fair while since I've hauled anything really exciting, so the idea of teaming up with RY.com.au and spending a voucher made me shiver with anticipation. I spent an absolute age poring over the different categories and making my mind up - first I went through "cleansers" then went onto "perfumes" and "cheeks" and drooled a little bit at all of the brands on offer...

 

I did consider selecting TheBalm Nude Tude Palette and went as far as to google blog swatches of it, but then my fascination with the Becca Beach Tint Shimmer Souffle took over...I went back and forth on this and was almost swayed by this Reductionista post, but my resistance to add yet another cream blush into my stash (a shimmery one at that!) was too much and I opted out of those gorgeous pots as well. The Clarins Illuminating Cheek Colour in Spiced Mocha was also a strong contender, but as soon as I saw that Ry.com.au stocked Bite Beauty I flailed a little bit and had to have a sit down...

If you are yet to try the Bite Beauty Matte Crème Lip Crayons - what are you doing?! The formula immediately impressed me after I tried the mini crayons from Sephora on my honeymoon - so much so that I ran back out to Sephora in Hawaii to grab a few more shades for my stash. I was lacking a good red in my stash and was regretting not picking up the holiday mini of Maraschino (#beautyregrets) so decided to check out the red toned shades on offer at RY! No jokes, I stalked Bite Beauty swatches for 3 days before I finally decided on Peche - a warm peach shade that pulls quite red on my pale features which I love!

Along with the Bite Beauty crayon I decided on an OPI shade that I've had my eye on since it launched with the Nordic collection for Fall 2014 - My Dogsled is a Hybrid, an amazing muted and creamy sea green that blows my mind. After stupidly skipping it on my honeymoon shopping trips and then again at Salon Melbourne (seriously, why do I hold back when I know it will eventually happen?!) I was utterly thrilled to have this in my hot little hands.

Overall I was seriously impressed with the brands up on RY (aka Recreate Yourself) I didn't realise how big the range was and the prices were pretty ace as well so I'm definitely planning on heading back when my bank balance is plump for a nice treat or two.

Nars And God Created The Woman Set

As soon as I spotted the infamous Nars palette online at Mecca Cosmetica ($79 AUD), I clicked add to cart and made it mine. I've seen many a post raving about the beauty of this teensy palette and the fact that it comes with a mini eye primer and a shadow brush made the decision even easier for me. I have to admit that I am completely enamoured by this, despite not having tried many Nars eyeshadows before, but I did have my reservations when I saw the size in person...

I've been interested in trying out the Nars Pro-Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base thanks to Ingrid Nilsen's love for it and so a mini tube was more exciting to me than it probably should have been! I'm yet to try it out (still using my Australis for now) and I haven't broached that strangely shaped brush yet, either. I did a bit of research and found out that they switched out the brush type since this was first launched at Sephora in 2013, and the Australian release also has the shadows in different positions in the palette which I thought was quite strange.

 I have to admit that my heart sank when I first unwrapped my Mecca parcel to see that the giant Nars box was housing a palette closer in size to a credit card...I'm used to my Lorac Pro, Naked Palettes etc so this was an eye-opener for me. For reference, it's a bit smaller than the NYX Love in Paris palettes which are in themselves quite a small size, so those looking for a palette that is easy to travel with might be elated with it's tiny physique. I can definitely see myself hitting pan on these shadows in this lifetime, but the shadow pans fit my brush perfectly so I don't really have any complaints at this point.

A neutral lovers dream, right? I have had a go at all of these shadows and can't say I'm disappointed with the quality of any of them. Despite them looking a bit 'meh' in swatches, once they hit the eye with my Royal & Langnickel brush it's all systems go and smooth sailing!

My favourite shadows from this palette are probably Kalahari, Alambra and Coconut Grove - the latter purely because I've been lusting over the single shadow for years! I went out for Thai on Saturday night with friends and I popped a bit of Night Clubbing into my crease to make my eyes more dramatic, and it was totally better and less scary a shade than I thought it would be.

They are still in stock at the time of posting but I'm sure it will be one that sells out as it is limited edition, so hop to it! The set contains one shadow palette (6x 1g shadows) as well as an 0.09 oz Pro-Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base and the #42 Wide Contour Eye Shadow Brush.

My intense love for a palette isn't a common occurrence despite my love for beauty, and that is a testament to Nars indeed! It has made me all the more excited to check out this mega Nars palette...

Bought in July

Keeping track of my purchases has been so helpful towards the wedding budget, let me tell you! I am looking forward to checking out a whole heap of gorgeous things after the wedding (see wishlist here!) but for now I’m showing restraint and settling for swatching all the new things in Myer rather than taking them all home with me!

 

I recently had the worst hair trim of my life (how you stuff that up I don’t know?) but I needed a nice conditioner to tide me over until I can get my next haircut. The pink packaging was probably the catalyst for choosing this Palmolive conditioner (the Intensive Moisture Conditioner for Dry Hair) I had seen the Face of Australia Cleansing Oil around on social media and blogs, and even though mineral oil is the main ingredient and I’m nervous about using it, I was too intrigued to pass up an opportunity to try it out for myself.

Some supermarket goodies that I wanted to include was the new Palmolive Fig and Coconut Hand Sanitiser (just realised that I bought two Palmolive products in a month, I don’t think I’ve ever used their stuff before!) and a travel can of the Rexona for men deodorant.

Seeing Models Prefer come out with new products always makes me excited, and when it’s a blush? Stop the press! I bought only one shade of the new Stick Blush, in the shade Love which is the brightest one and looks matte in the tube, but actually has some kinda chunky glitter hidden in there. I also bought the Rimmel Blush in Tuscany after seeing that it was half price – as if I need any more neutral blushes!

Speaking of things I don’t need more of…pink lip products!

I knew I had to pick up one of the new L’Oreal Extraordinaire lip products and the shade Fuschia Drama called out to me the most. I also added my first Revlon Matte Balm into my collection with the bright pink shade Showy – I’m still trying to get the hang of this and think my lips need TLC before I try it out again.

The Models Prefer Nude Eyeshadow palette has 10 shades and I’ve not had another powder shadow on my lids since I bought it. Some of the shades need improvement, but most are above what I expected for a mere $12.99 so I’m all aboard this train! I prefer these shades much more than those in the darker palette (which has a grey/black/blue kind of vibe instead) Most of the time I’ve been wearing the Australis Cray for Colour Eye Stick in Soiling the Fun underneath those, but for the past few days I’ve been all about wearing it by itself with a good swipe of chocolate liner and a neutral blush. It’s seriously good stuff and the colour is amazing, but without a primer it does crease on me quite quickly so be sure to prime the lids, ladies!

Mister Bovary and I went out tie shopping at Uni Hill Brand Junction over the weekend (the joys of wedding planning, amiright?) and I didn’t need an excuse to pop into the cosmetics discount store there. I picked up the essence coral camo blush in 01 Ap-ri©ot from the Be Loud collection, along with the eyeshadow duo in 03 Rock the Block.

Exploring Kleins Perfumery // Beauty Places

Stepping into certain beauty stores is a bit like entering a completely different world - Priceline gets my heart pumping every week, Myer gives me access to the most popular luxe brands and then comes something out of the ordinary - Kleins Perfumery.

Once you set foot in the small boutique on Brunzwick Street in Melbourne's Fitzroy, you immediately notice the ambiance they have created in their tiny space, despite it being filled to the brim with beauty products. Taking a look online, Kleins themselves points out the 60 square metre floorspace and the fact that over 80 different brands reside there. It's not only the unique feeling of the store that is impressive - the random brands that are hard to find elsewhere are sitting upon the shelves lookin' pretty shiny.

The Decoy Purchase

At first I though I might be lemming the new Chanel Joues Contraste blush in Canaille because I haven't had a good shopping fix in a while. The colour is still quite scary in the pan but seeing it on Jessica from Jemorjerrica on YouTube made me want it even more. I decided to find an affordable lemming to test my crave to shop, and picked up the gorgeous NYX Paris in Love palette in Je ne sais quoi.

Mister Bovary bought me the Madeleine's and Macarons palette from the same line up for Christmas and I've been loving it lately, so I spent quite a while swatching all of the Paris in Love testers and thinking about not only what was pretty, but which one contained colours I could wear on a day-to-day basis. I thought I had curbed my shopping urge but then passed by my local Inglot, where I proceeded to swatch all of the blush pans that vaguely resembled Canaille. I almost caved in, but then common sense took over and I saw that it was a sign that my lemming for Canaille was still strong (and a little bit sad when you think about it)

As I write this I'm sitting having a coffee and doing some wedding planning, but my mind keeps drifting back to the Chanel counter. If I'm honest, it's not often that I put a strenuous amount of thought into a makeup purchase, so I'm finding this quite strange. Perhaps this is the poignant moment in my life where my makeup buying habits are changing, or maybe I'm spending too long thinking about a blush.

I've Been Shopping! - A Collective Haul

I’ve picked up some pretty lovely things lately, and even though a few online orders are yet to arrive it is time to share my new stash items with you.  Most are from Priceline and the supermarket, but I forgot to include my Clinique products (and GWP!) so they’ll have to feature in the next round up instead. Moving is messing with my mojo, but we’ll get there eventually.

Covergirl seems to be my Achilles heel this month, and I found all 3 of these trios on sale at various points of the month and treated myself to them. No restraint there, I tell ya! Majestic Hazels (bottom left) has a really nice mix of browns along with a mint and a cream shade, and I think I am going to really enjoy playing around with it and finding new combinations. Country Woods (bottom right) had caught my eye a few times, and those neutrals needed to be mine. Blossoms (top palette) is not something I thought I’d buy, but I love the intense mix of pink and purple as they are so pretty.

 

The Innoxa blush duo might have been a silly purchase as I really don’t need another blush and I definitely don’t need two but the purchase happened, and the free kabuki brush was procured. The BOE products I believe are Big W exclusive, and I couldn’t help treating myself to a matte lip cream and two lip lacquers for the pricely sum of $2 each! The lip loving trend continues with a Pink Lolita tinted Baby Lips by Maybelline hopping into my Priceline basket, along with a slew of new lip products that I don’t regret and am still swooning over.

 

The Covergirl Jumbo Gloss Balms in Watermelon Twist + Plum Twist were inevitable purchases – one inspired by Ingrid from Miss Glamorazzi and the other a nod to a vampy side of me that needs some attention. The final lip crayon to enter my overloaded crayon collection is the Bourjois Colour Boost Glossy Finish crayon in Peach at the Beach. Could it be the cutest name ever? My vote is a yes at the moment, since I am so smitten with this shade. I am so tempted to head back for another shade, but on principle I’m waiting for a Bourjois sale. Stares intently at watch.

 

La Roche Posay’s Effaclar Duo is an absolue miracle for my skin, and now that it is available at Priceline I was able to repurchase and avoid a skin meltdown - crisis averted! I read about the Nivea In-Shower Body Lotion first on Styling You, and the very next day I popped into Big W and bought it on sale for $5! I’m yet to try it as I’m saving it for my new place it’s the little things, but 5 of my family and friends have since bought it and have been quite impressed! The Grown Body Exfoliant and Facial Moisturiser were spotted for $5 on a clearance shelf at Priceline, and I love the aesthetic of the brand so much that I just had to buy them.
