Cuticle oil will be a big part of 2014 for me, as using my extensive nail stash just isn't as enjoyable knowing that I have some ragged borders for the pretty shades. I've got a bit bottle of Kit Cuticle Oil in my drawer and my plan is to have a little nail box in the lounge room so that I can slop on some oil while watching Breaking Bad each night. I tend to do my nails in the lounge room so that I have TV or YouTube to watch as they dry - is this a common trait? I also really want to use up a lot of my body lotions this year, as I tend to chop and change between scents and never end up finishing a whole tub/tube.
one side natural, one side straightened! |
I think that most bloggers resolve to use less of their heat stylers when a new year beckons, but for me I pledge the opposite. More effort into hair care and styling will be a task for this lazy lady, but the feeling I get when my long hair is straightened/curled and looking good is well worth the extra time it takes to tend to it.
I have been thinking about this next goal and can't seem to put my finger on what it is I wish to achieve with it. Perhaps to be at peace with my makeup collection is what I yearn for right now? During December I had a few main products I used over and over again, and seeing dents form in eye shadows and tubes begin to thin out was quite a thrill for me. I tend to 'rotate' my products too often, but perhaps being able to strike a happy medium between loving all of my eye shadows and using some up can be met this year?
some new press samples I am going to trial - which should I choose first to fit in with my Guinot cleansing milk?! |
A goal I am sure about is the effort to double cleanse my skin each night. For the most part I already do this, but my skin reacts quickly when the effort falters and I am left with a pretty unhappy canvas to apply makeup on. I had been using the Shu Uemura cleansing oil* (green variant) but it didn't agree with my skin so I am thinking of returning to a nice thick cleansing balm eventually. I've got my bottles of Bioderma from the Priceline 40% sale but they are reserved for refreshing myself on non-makeup days and for eye-shadow switches mid way through the day, so I'm not even considering using them as a first cleanse (to take makeup off before double cleansing is okay though)
Have you pegged any goals for the new year?
I quite like the 'new' feeling I'm enjoying right now, like a spring clean for my mind.
Emma x
Your 'possible' resolutions are pretty much the same as mine. I paint my nails in the lounge in front of my computer so that I can watch a Youtube video while they dry, lol. I want to use more heat in my hair too, but I feel like it's a lot of effort for daily/near daily use. I've still got my eye on buying myself some heat rollers though, they look easy to use and creates nice voluminous curls! Sometimes when I use a curling wand, the curls end up slightly astray... Don't think I can get into the double cleansing habit, I'm happy with my skincare routine now. Maybe in the future. x
ReplyDeleteresolution twins, high 5! I've never tried heat rollers but they look so old school cool!
DeleteI hope you can stick to your resolution and use a wider range of your wonderful collection!! Im just getting started blogging and so jealous of how good your blog is! have a good day :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Emily that means a lot to me, I am glad that you are enjoying my blog. Will try to showcase more of my stash in the future!
DeleteGo you Emma, you can do it! I think I'm the opposite to most bloggers in that I hate it when I hit pan on a blusher or eyeshadow, particularly a palette! Not sure why haha! I am the same as you in the idea of using my heat stylers more this year though - I'm so lazy with my hair it's not even funny, I want to be gorgeous dammit! :P

Thanks Jasmine! Ahh how can you not love hitting pan, it is such a rush and feels so good! And honey, you are gorgeous even when you don't do your hair !
DeleteI also try to do my nails while watching tv or a movie so they can dry! :P Otherwise I get too impatient and end up ruining them...
ReplyDeleteThose are great possible resolutions! :)
It's such a good way to save time and get your nails done!
DeleteWhat a good post ! I need to make some beauty resolutions myself ! I really like the cuticle oil idea, i have a little tube of the most divine smelling rose cuticle balm that i need to use. I'm not a nail bitter but i am a cuticle chewer ! Yuck hahaha
ReplyDeleteI had totally forgotten about cuticle balm, I have the lemon scented one from Burt's Bees and need to pull that out again too!
Deletegreat resolutions Emma, I always do my nails while watching youtube videos :)
ReplyDeletethanks Saumya, glad to hear you are a nails while YT fan too!
DeleteSo good! I am such a product rotating kind of person too, I never really stick with one thing (especially lip products and eyeshadows). That's why it honestly astonishes me when I see people's monthly empties posts and they feature more products than I use up in an entire year! Haha x
ReplyDeleteHaha I think I am getting better at using up things before moving on (trying to be strict with skincare in that respect at the moment) but shiny new things are oh so tempting!
DeleteThose are some great resolutions -- I, too, want to try to do more with my hair...as a fellow long-haired person, the smallest amount of effort would likely net great results. :)

Working on your hair is such a common resolution, I love that!
DeleteI think I need to get into double cleansing too. I'm a bit lazy. I used to straighten my hair every day but now only do it once a week and embrace the curls/ waves the rest of the time.
ReplyDeletedouble cleansing is the bomb, get onto it! I'm super lazy but the rewards are so worth the extra minute, trust me on that! I wish my hair sat nicely naturally, but it's just meh wavy and I need to add curl or straighten it to get any semblance of a style ><
