Getting stuck in a blush rut is pretty frustrating for a #blushfiend - I love so many different blushes but often stick to my neutral loves and neglect the other colour families that should be thrown in every now and again. The ease of a neutral that goes with everything is tempting, but each time I lay a peachy powder across my apples I am reminded of just why these blushes are so darn popular.
All of these are quite pigmented peach shades, all with different shade leanings (some are more pink-toned, whereas orange shines through in others!) The Luma Cosmetics blush in Soft Peach* is the latest to enter my stash but don't let the 'soft' name fool you - this ginormous blush pan packs a punch and needs a light hand to apply without looking a bit crazy. The same can be said for TheBalm's Hot Mama which is the shimmeriest of this bunch, perhaps of my whole collection? (I try to buff the shimmer out for glowier cheeks #HotTip)
MAC Springsheen is the most orange-toned, a rusty sort of peach that I was once afraid of using on my fair skin before true #blushfiend bravery set in years ago. I think the fact that it is a sort-of neutral rusty peach is what redeems it in my eyes, ya know? A shade that needs no redemption is Clinique's Peach Pop*, a shade that consistently impresses every time I swipe some colour from the gorgeous embossed petal pan. More often than not this is the blush that sparks a blush upheaval in the ranks and pushes my neutral blushes aside, which as I mentioned earlier is no mean feat...
Saving the best for last, my beautiful Illamasqua Sophie*. When this hit my desk many moons ago I knew not how hard I'd fall for this stunner - in the pan she appears awkwardly glittery and dry, but on the cheeks she blends and brightens with an ease that makes me sigh every.single.time. It's the pink tones in this that make this so amazing I think, and it really cemented the fact that Illamasqua know how to knock it out of the park with their blushes!
I'm off to scan my blush drawers for more peachy goodness...hit me up with your favourite peach shades, lest I slide on back to my overloved Tarte Exposed...
Emma x

ReplyDeleteI think you might be right!
DeletePeachy pink blushes give me life to be honest. Haha! I have been getting into using Clinique Peach Pop lately. Absolutely loving how it complements my skintone! I've been hearing amazing things about the Luma blush - the pan is huge!
ReplyDeleteTasha // shiwashiful.
Peach Pop would be gorgeous on you - the pan for Luma really is huge, I thought it was a pressed powder to be honest and when I opened the lid to find a blush I was shocked!
DeleteI bought one of the Luma blushes at the last Priceline 40% make up sales and it was the best thing that I did! It's a wonderful blush.
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear you are loving the Luma blush too - 40% off is a great bargain!
DeleteBLUSH!! hahaha...I need to get MAC Springsheen back...I got rid of it for some dang reason, but now it calls to me Emma!
ReplyDeleteall blush everyday! Glad to see you are still a felloe #blushfiend Tracy - you got rid of Springsheen?! See I don't know if I could do a big real blush clean out lest I regret it later
DeleteAh, whenever I think of blush, I think of you, Ms Emma!
ReplyDeleteSo much blush goodness in this post, I NEED that Clinique blush, it's so pretty! I need to try LUMA too, I love a pigmented product.
That is a big, big compliment Nalini! Wow!
DeletePeach Pop would be stunning on you - actually I think Ginger Pop would be too? And Soft Peach by Luma? All of them! haha
OOoo that peach from Luma and the Clinique are sooo gorgeous! I've only started loving peaches and they really do add a beautiful natural warmth to the face!
ReplyDeleteYeah I think you've hit the nail on the head, it's that natural warmth it gives to the face that really knocks it out of the park for me
DeleteThe Clinique Cheek Pop is gorgeous! I love peachy pinks :)

It's so cute and I love that the design stays around for a while, too.
DeleteI swear I do the same thing! I try to mix up the blushes I use but I always gravitate to the same ones! What lovely pink shades here!
ReplyDeleteI guess when you have favourites it makes sense to use them all the time - I find the blushes that go with any look are the ones I lazily favour!
DeleteI'm a blush rutter too! Haha! I actually gravitate to peach more than anything actually :)
ReplyDeleteI can't help but love my favourite shades hard, what can I say!
DeleteMy favourite blush at the moment is Nars Deep Throat - peachy pink with a hint of shimmer. It's really easy to wear and I can go light or build it up depending on how strong I want the look to be! :)
ReplyDeleteI can imagine that shade to suit you perfectly Sarah - I think I have it in a Nars blush palette but I don't know if I've ever worn it to be honest!
