Malibu Barbie FOTD

When a piece from my cosmetic collection jumps out at me, I tend to base my whole look around it. While getting ready for work I came across my stunning Face of Australia Malibu Barbie lipstick, and I decided to choose products to compliment it.

Bourjois Healthymix Serum is a foundation I use quite regularly, it gives a luminous finish and is easy to apply with my fingers, which is how I applied it for this look. I find that I need to scrub my lips a few times a week to keep them in good condition, and I scrubbed them with Lush's Mint Julips before applying Malibu Barbie to make the most of the gorgeous shade.
The Urban Decay Naked palettes have been out in full force lately, and I used a mixture of shades from each to create a subtle eye look that wouldn't compete with the bright lip. Benefit Hervana was a perfect blush choice to pair with this look, the pale pink shade is very wearable and went well with the essence highlighter in Flamingo Pink, which is a very subtle shimmer powder.
Malibu Barbie is a stunning bright pink shade that I find really comfortable to wear, it is smooth and creamy without being too slippery, which also helps it last quite well on my lips. It is the sort of shade that would look good on most skin tones I think, and it seems to brighten my pale skin quite well. I have a few of the Face of Australia lipsticks from this line and so far I have been really impressed with them all, both in colour and in formulations.

How often do you wear bright pink lip shades?
Have you tried the Face of Australia lipsticks yet?

Malibu Barbie is available at Kmart,Priceline and Big W, and on Fashion Addict here (they ship internationally!)

Mint Julips!

I don't really know what persuaded me to purchase this, it was probably a blog post or a Lush scent-induced crazy moment in store. It took me a while to come around to it, but now I couldn't be without it! Mint Julips is just one of the Lush lip scrub offerings, and in my opinion one of the best. Vanilla and peppermint flavours this, and combined with the sugar it makes for a great multitasker- scrub your lips and cure your sugar cravings, all at once!
I originally thought the price of this Lush lip scrub was steep at $9.95, but others on the market are much pricier. Essentially this is just sugar and oils, but the taste and scent as well as the pretty packaging makes this little one oh so worth it.
The first few applications of this left much to be desired, as the oils had obviously seeped to the bottom a little bit. Once you get into it it's much nicer, and easier to work with as opposed to rubbing loose sugar on your lips.
As someone who loves to wear lipstick, I find that I need to scrub my lips regularly to ensure a smooth application each day. This is rough enough to get the job done without hurting my lips. I find that it works well before bed or even in the morning, as it doesn't leave any residue that would affect the colour going on top of it.
The Lush lip scrubs couldn't be easier to use, you simply take a fingerfull and rub it around your lips well. The best bit is licking it all off, and being left with super smooth lips!
Most Lush products come with a specific expiry date and I've been using this a lot as mine is coming up. This pot has lasted me quite a long time, and I will definitely be repurchasing. I'll be checking out some other scents while in Lush, but will probably stick to Mint Julips.

Have you tried the Lush lip scrubs?
Would love to hear how the other ones taste!
