a stroll down a sunlight path

Sometimes you look at a colour in a bottle and your heart leaps, but as soon as it hits your nail it falls again.
China Glaze Stroll, I'm lookin' at you!
While I liked this colour more with each coat, the golden shimmery look in the bottle just didn't translate enough for me. I need my shimmer craaazy!
Stroll is a raspberry toned red that contains fine gold shimmer, but they look a lot more defined in the bottle. I chose this at the nail salon when I got my acrylic nails refilled, but I wasn't completely happy with them either.
I think Gelish or Shellac are the next option for me, long nails don't seem to suit me? I can never seem to decide what shape to go for, maybe that is the problem.
What are your thoughts on acrylic nails? Do you prefer long nails, or a shorter style? Have you had Shellac or Gelish?
I'd love to hear your opinions in the comments below as to what you think I should do next!

  2. I myself have never had acrylics, but I honestly wouldn't go there because I've had friends whose own nails were ruined by them. I've had long nails in the past, but now I keep them short and I much prefer them that way. I suppose if you're happy to keep your nails short, I'd suggest trying the Shellac mani. I've read good things about it.

    1. I've had them before and my nails were a little weaker than normal for a week or so,then normal again. I love the look of short neat nails, I'm very tempted by gelish and shellac

I've never had acrylics because I've seen friends' nails get really fucked up from them. lol I've heard Shellac is great!

    1. Oh thanks, I didn't mean for it to be in the shot but had too much trouble trying to take a pic with my left hand lol. Acrylics don't really mess up my nails, but I think I'm going to try Shellac

  4. Hi Emma! Don't want to scare you but I had acrylics applied after I broke one nail when I was going to be in the bridal party at my sis-in-law's wedding. It took my natural nails about 12 mths to recover from the damage so I'll never go there again. If I wasn't so OCD about changing my nail colour I'd probably go for a shellac. Some friends have tried and been very impressed with these manis

    1. Oh really?! I've had them on and off, and have had no real trouble at all! Oh you can get clear shellac and paint them, so you don't have to have one nail colour the whole time. My sister in law always has clears on

  5. Ive had acrylics and I will never go back. My nails looked like a mess after I removed the acrylics. I prefer my nails the way they are now... I have heard great things about the Shellac mani too so I would recommend that :)
