Daily Tray

You know you've read a great blog post when you drop what you are doing (which was cuddling Charlie with a hundred blog tabs open...) to make a move with your makeup stash. Reading Larie's musings and seeing the products she keeps out to use regularly inspired me to steal the idea and create a 'daily tray' for myself - the products I want to make dents in, need to test or want to enjoy for a little while. Every few days I can see this getting a wee shake up, but I think semi-regular posts with the new additions could be beneficial for me and something you would hopefully find interesting.

I've got some of my staples in there like my Rimmel Match Perfection Cream Gel and my Too Faced Shadow Insurance, but I also threw in items I haven't touch in months like Revlon Nearly Naked foundation and my Laura Mercier foundation primer. I decided that while I wait for my Urban Decay Naked 3 palette to arrive I would give the original version a rest and bring out Naked 2 for a play. I had forgotten how beautiful the shades in this variation are, and am glad that soon I will have the fabulous trifecta.
A new minty shade for my inner corners came into the daily tray from the essence Me & My Ice-Cream collection, as well as the bright coral gloss from the new Beauty Beats collection (amazing glosses by the way!) I'm not loving either of the mascaras but can't bear to throw them away just yet as they aren't the worst I've ever used, so they will be in here for a little while.
An important part of my daily tray? Products I need to use up or want to hit pan on! I've had NYX Peach for so long and as you can see it is on its way out, so I've been wearing it daily with another shade dusted on top to make it interesting but still get rid of the pan. The bit dip in the champagne shade of Dior Fairy Golds is actually really exciting me and I can't wait to see some shiny Dior pan for the first time in my life!

  1. I've been meaning to do something really similar for a long time. I need to get my butt into gear and actually do it! x

  2. I've seen quite a few people using a tray type storage for their daily makeup! I've been doing something similar with a little 2 drawer set from MUJI! It's really great for having all the products in one place and no need for rummaging in your larger makeup collection!

    1. I love the look of the Muji ones for this too but find that unless they are laid out flat it doesn't work for me! For storage I love those though, keeps everything so neat and pretty :)

  3. I love this idea. I've done a similar thing myself. I cleared out my make-up bag and put all the products I'm trying to use up in there so I'll use them until they're gone, then I'll replace them with other products I want to finish.

    1. It will totally work for you, I've made dents in some of the above items already! I'm not doing a beauty diet like you but still want to rid myself of half used things I like but don't love so I can buy some of the new YSL and Dior collection stuff :)

  4. Love this, Emma! Looks like an awesome collection of items to rotate through. I think I have to pick up Naked 3, too, but I'm waiting for the hype to die down so I can just walk into a store and grab one, lol!

    1. Thanks for the inspiration Larie, I'm really happy with the first tray full too :) I wish I could actually see some Urban Decay, have only ever bought it online!

  6. What a lovely idea! I don't own 'that' many products so it's easy for me to use them but they take so long!! I need to get my hands on the LM primer!

    1. I am sort of envious of your smaller collection Kat! I have a million products to rotate, especially in the blush and shadow department lol

  7. That is such a great idea! And that way I can use up what I want to finish up too!

  8. This is SUCH a brilliant idea that I actually went out and specifically bought a tray yesterday to get my own 'daily' started! A really genius way to put my {way too many...} products into higher rotation!

  9. I love this daily tray! I sometimes just find myself keeping a few products out on the top of my dresser for several days in a row, but then I get back to having them all nicely organised in my 2 big beauty boxes and 2 small beauty boxes. I just like how pretty it looks too much and try to rotate things every day if possible. That said, I have a small cardboard box out at the moment with numerous little almost finished items that I am trying to use more often than not until they're gone - so you could say that's my daily tray in a way! ;-)
