The real staples in my beauty drawers are frequently spotted in makeup posts, but too often overlooked when it comes to a full post or review. I thought it was high time they had the spotlight to themselves - especially since the products featured here are what I use with almost every makeup look I wear. I don't necessarily have a set style when it comes to eye makeup, I'll switch around my shadow shades and float between using mascara on my lower lashes to spice things up sometimes, but things like liner, primer and mascara are things that I just can't be without.
If I'm wearing makeup, you can bet that an eyeshadow will be coating my lids whatever the shade. I think perhaps the first eyeshadow primer I began using was the famed Urban Decay Primer Potion, but then I moved onto the MAC Painterly Paint Pot and have never looked back. I've already gone through a whole pot of this (evidence for you!) and I repurchased this while in America late last year. The colour is just a tad darker than my natural skin tone and I find it really helps to create a base for the shadows to stick to and helps them stay crease free during the day.
Wearing MAC Painterly, Covergirl Clump Crusher and Hot Chocolate with Total Intensity by Prestige 'Bewitched' on the lid |
Another daily product for me is my beloved essence LongLasting Eye Pencil in Hot Chocolate - I have back-ups in my drawer of this and love popping a little bit on my upper lashline to bulk up my lashes and give some definition to an eye look. I find the chocolate shade flatters me more than a straight up black for day to day looks and the fact that it twists up, negating the need for a sharpener, makes me seriously happy.
Every morning I grab for these 3 from my daily drawer and throw whatever shadow I feel like in to finish off my eyes - having products that are reliable but that still excite you is the key to enjoying a makeup collection in my opinion, and I've definitely found that with these three. What daily eye staples do you rely on?

Youi know I have yet to try the Mac painter pots, I should though.
ReplyDeleteThey are really nice (most of them anyway!) and I use them all the time:)
DeletePainterly looks like just the sort of color I am looking for in a cream version! Will have to take a look.
ReplyDeleteIt's so easy to wear, for me it goes with everything!

I've heard Groundwork is really nice!
DeleteI used to love painterly and I finished it, purchased groundwork instead which I also love. I have the plum version of that essence liner, you just made me want to get the brown one!
ReplyDeleteI am pretty sure I have the plum version too - the green is stunning also, would look amazing on you!
DeleteI'm always hearing so much love for that mascara, but I'm yet to try it! It does look amazing though! xx

You can really layer it on and on, which is my favourite aspect of the mascara :) What is your favourite mascara Jasmine?
DeleteI never would have thought of the brown liner like that, but you're right looks great for a day look :) I might have to go to Target and see if I can find one.
ReplyDeleteThey are so affordable, I love pretty much every colour in the range (I own them all!)
DeleteI love reading about the regular products beauty bloggers reach for over and over again. They make excellent recommendations!
ReplyDeleteI find it really helpful too, makes it easier to buy winners when I'm out shopping!
DeleteI'm another person who's never owned a MAC paint pot! Currently I'm working on using up my UDPP which I'm not overly fond of so I may have to finally go and check one out :)
ReplyDeleteI didn't love UDPP at all, found Too Faced Shadow Insurance better but this one is just the bee's knee's for me :)
DeleteI would love to try out some Covergirl products :)
ReplyDeleteThey are the same as MaxFactor I´ve heard, or Covergirl is a sister brand to MaxFactor (?) and we do have MF here :)
Heard so many good things about Covergirl though :)
xx
Yeah the same mother company own MF and Covergirl, so I have heard the mascaras are quite similar ;) I prefer Covergirl for mascaras as they are cheaper and go on sale more often here!
DeleteEveryone raves about the MAC paint pots but I have no idea why it creases on me still! Painterly is so pretty, I have the shade Nubile which is quite similar! I really want to make it work though!

I find some of the shimmery paint pots a pain in the behind and they never sit properly on my lids, but this stuff does for some reason - if I layer this and then Maybelline Bad to the Bronze before powder shadow it locks it down so well!
