BYS Blush Trio - 4 Blush Palettes to Drive You Wild!

When I saw these gorgeous BYS blush trios for $4.50 at my local discount store, I knew I had to take them all home with me. The RRP price is $6.50, and I would still happily pay that per palette, no problems. I love the idea of having three blush shades in one handy palette, and I love that the packaging is clear on top so that you can see which palette you are picking up at a glance.

The packaging, while feeling a little cheap, is still really sturdy and has the positive feature of being really slim so it sits in my blush drawer with ease. I have a stack of the BYS blush singles which I also like, but I really think they’ve stepped it up with such bright shades this time around! All you need is the Real Techniques Stippling Brush for these to all be wearable, and just remember that a light hand works wonders with blushes like this and you’ll be fine. I have been wearing primarily these for well over a month now, and am showing no signs of stopping!

My obsession with bright pink cheeks has meant that On The Brightside has really won my heart over. I would say that I wear all 3 shades from this one pretty regularly, including the matte coral pink and the shimmery paler pink as well. For dolly pink lovers (Chanel Pink Explosion, MAC Dollymix, etc.) this is a bargain.

Endless Summer is the next shade in this line up, a beautiful trio of burnt coral oranges that looks great on pale skin and darker skin alike. This might be best suited to lovers for shades like Nars Orgasm, or other coral toned shades like MAC Springsheen.

I would have to say that my very favourite palette from the 4 available is Coral Me In, and it is all because of that shimmery centre shade. I fell head over heels for this pretty shade, and the shimmer is so beautiful when buffed into the skin with my stippling brush that I just can’t get over it. Signs of blush obsession, anyone? It really makes me look 'glowy' rather than shimmery, and we all love that!

The fourth and final palette to choose from is probably my least favourite, though I think it would be the most wearable for the masses if my guess is correct. Heart Skipped A Beat is a trio of paler pink shades, one with a nice plummy tone, one a candy floss sort of tone and a mid tone in the centre. I think they are still really pretty and have been wearing them quite a bit as well, but we have to pick favourites in this beauty bloggin’ biz, ya know?

All of that being said, I would highly recommend that you grab a palette or two if you happen to track them down. They are being released as we speak, with lots of shelves already full of the bright trios. While you aren’t getting Burberry quality silkiness in the formula (or the luxe packaging) these are much better than their price tag suggests, and I have had no problems with them being too chalky or powdery since I apply them with the best brush - Cough buy the RT stippling brush cough.

June Favourites

A few products really stood out to me this month, and I ended up using them over and over as the weeks went by. I also took these along with me for my anniversary weekend away and they served me well.

Samantha Chapman for Real Techniques Stippling Brush
This is brilliant for pigmented cream and powder blushes, and since this month was all about bright cheeks it was in constant use. It buffs out strong pigments so nicely and I’ve also found it great to use with shimmery or sparkly blushes (Milani blushes, I’m looking at you) I am contemplating buying another one of these so I don’t have to wash them as frequently…

BYS Blush Trio in On The Brightside + Coral Me In
I used the first two shades of each palette alternately throughout the month, and these two palettes were the only cheek products I took away with me for the long weekend. I love how the shimmer in some of the shades gives a great glow to the cheeks, and how the lasting power of every shade is just phenomenal!

iPhone quality and not the clearest representation of colour, sorry!

Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask
This smells edible and I adore the concept of an overnight mask, as I often dread washing off clay masks etc as they can be quite messy. This gives a really good dose of moisture to my skin, and I’m kinda crushing on the brand at the moment so I’ve been using this each weekend to keep the flakies at bay.

MAC lipstick in Girl About Town
I traded in some empty eyeshadow pots after a big depotting session to get my hands on this bright pop of happiness! I often swatched the shade on counter when browsing but never thought too much about it, until I saw the beautiful Ling of Six Inch Heel wearing it to one of our shopping sessions. It looks seriously HOT on her, and if I do say so myself, looks pretty damn good on me as well! I think the fact that I paid $0 for it makes it even prettier!

Clinique Chubby Stick in Whole Lotta Honey*
This is one of my very favourite nude lip colours, and I can see myself easily reaching the end of the crayon in this lifetime -quite an achievement with a collection the size of mine! The formula of these is ace, and I can’t wait to try out the new Intense colours they have just launched as I do like pigmented products for zee lips.

Whole Lotta Honey, Girl About Town, first two shade of On The Brightside, first two shades of Coral Me In

What were your favourite products in June?
Do you like the idea of blush palettes like these ones?

*I won this Chubby Stick in a Clinique Twitter competition. Honesty, always.

The Blush Haul

There is nothing like a little treat when you receive some great news, and a new pop of colour for my cheeks is the best treat I can think of don’t ya think? After a big ol’ thumbs up from my mentor teacher at the end of my placement, I succumbed to the lure of MAC, Dior, BYS and Models Prefer (and soon I will be making a Bourjois order!)

It is hard to pick the star of the show as I am head over heels for every one of these new blush additions, but a shout out must go to the amazing Dior Crème Blush in Bikini, which is an amazing new formula that the luxe brand have just released. I love the burnt coral shade, though I also have my eye on the bright pink shade from the release as well. I have a feeling that the 4 shades will somehow form a set in my makeup drawers soon, they are just too pretty to resist, though I do have my eye on the yet to be released Chanel cream blushes as well. Bourjois also have new cream blushes out, and now that they are up on Asos I am finding it very tempting indeed.

Coming into the ‘orange’ side of the spectrum is my pick from the MAC All About Orange collection, the powder blush in Honey Jasmine. I ordered this online as I had a free shipping code, and I was elated to discover how long lasting it is on my cheeks and how easy to wear the colour is for me. I was excited as Larie posted this while I was waiting for it to arrive- nothing better than a post reaffirming a purchase!

For the bargain price of $5 for the set, I threw the Models Prefer Blush set into my cart on my last trip to Priceline. For a lovely cream blush stick and a pigmented powder pan reminiscent of NYX blushes, this was a big score for me and I’m very happy that the cheap gamble paid off. I never understood the appeal of the Nars Mutiples, but if they are anything like the cream stick in this set I totally get it- heaven! As an aside, I’m also using a stick blush from Vapour Organic* which is really nice, but the photos of it have mysteriously disappeared from my laptop so I am on a hunt for those so I can share it with you all.

Last, but most definitely not least, was my amazing haul of ALL of the new blush trios from BYS. For $4.50 a pop I really couldn’t help myself, and since I bought them I’ve worn them almost every day. They are a lovely formula and quite pigmented, so I’ve been applying them with my Real Techniques Stippling Brush. I have a full post with swatches coming up, so you will see shade names and swatches there. For now, enjoy the below swatches of the rest of my haul!
So now that I have indulged in a bit of a blush frenzy, I’m happily using my new loot and patting myself on the back for completing my first placement. How do you treat yourself for a job well done?

*I treated myself to these with a mixture of gift cards (silver Myer, woohoo!) and my own moolah. Honesty, always!
