Not wholly beauty related (until you see my beauty room!!)
but I just had to share the news on here as I’ve already mentioned it on
Twitter and Facebook. We bought our first home!!

Mr Bovary and I have wanted to buy a house for such a long time now,
and since the end of my post grad is looming it just seemed right for us to
begin looking. We didn’t expect to find a house so soon… A few weeks later and
the paperwork is signed and we are counting down until settlement at the end of
August! Since we bought a 3 bedroom I get to take control of one of the guest
rooms and turn it into an office slash beauty room, or ‘heaven’ as I have been
calling it.
Though I’m the lucky last child to move out of our family home and
therefore have a whole lot of space to call my own at my parents place, I can’t
wait to begin this new chapter with Chris and have space that I really can call
my own. We bought a place one suburb over from both of our families so Mumma
Bovary won’t pine for me too much (though she has started to talk about how
strange it will be to live in our family home without any children in it for the first time in almost 40 years!)
I’d love to hear your moving experiences in the comments
below, as I’ve not once had to move house before so am very new to it all! Give me home stores to hunt
down and good Pinterest boards to follow! How did you feel when you moved for the first time (or how do you think you will feel?!) ?
Congratulations!!! This is so exciting! I've moved alot, back and forth, and it's so stressful if you wait last minute to do everything. I think we moved our whole apartment out in 2 days. NOT RECOMMENDED, LOL!. Make a plan and a schedule, stick to it, and you won't grow too many gray hairs.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ash! I think if I had've moved before I would know what to expect, but apart from moving bedrooms in my house I have never experienced it! I have boxed up a lot of stuff I know I won't use in the next month, and a bit chunk of my many, many bookshelves, but I think the days leading up to it will be a rush. I suppose it isn't too bad as we don't need to empty out my parents place, can leave some stuff there and come back later to get it I guess. Hopefully without growing any more greys!
DeleteWoohoo!! Congrats!!! How exciting! Love that you're getting a beauty room! That'll be so much fun to decorate!
ReplyDeleteThanks Tracy! I am so excited about having a haven to myself, Chris is elated at his big double garage to work in as well so we are both jumping for joy about it all.
DeleteHow exciting! Congratulations xx
ReplyDeleteThanks Coco! A very exciting step for me <3
DeleteYAY Im so happy for the two of you :) That is just amazing :) CONGRATULATIONS!! :)
ReplyDeleteI remember the day when I told my parents that me and Freddi wanted to move in together. Well I moved in with him in his apartment :)
I thought my mum and dad was going to say no at first but they was thrilled for us and we have now lived together for seven years :)
I can´t begin to tell you how happy I am for the two of you :)
hugs
xx
@shortylegsbeauty Thank you so much!! We are so excited to be finally living together, both sets of parents are very happy as well which is wonderful :) 7 years is such a long time- now I know who to turn to for advice if his habits begin to annoy me ;P xx
DeleteCongrats Em! Such a big decision to buy a house but a great one. A home of your own! Take it easy and don't rush on decorating. It's easy to get overwhelmed by so much gorgeous ideas out there :) x
ReplyDeleteThanks Tine! Was a big decision and I was surprised at how fast things can get moving once the ball starts rolling! We have a lot of furniture from our brothers + sisters (benefits of them being so much older than us!) and we've slowly over the years bought some art work, etc, so when we move in we won't be choosing too much other than paint colours. As you said, it would be too overwhelming! x
DeleteCongrats Emma!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Yishan! Am very excited to make the move :)
DeleteCongratulations! My boyfriend and I are currently saving up for our first home, so hopefully that will happen next year.
ReplyDeleteThanks olgiepolgie! I'm so nervous about bills for the first time ever, lol. Looking forward to seeing a post from you about buying a house!
DeleteEXCITING! I remember being super excited when I bought my first home. I'm lucky that Mr. C and I have somewhat similar taste (somewhat), especially when it comes to colour schemes. One thing I've learned though, buying furniture can be a pain. We took ages to get a coffee table - we were that fussy! But once we did...well, I kinda tricked Mr. C actually. I knew which one I wanted but diverted him to another and then pointed to the one I really DID want. Hahaha..made him think that HE chose it! ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks Norlin! I have the upper hand for decorating and things like that, he isn't too opinionated about it but wants it all to look 'nice and clean' so that is what we are aiming for I guess. We will be using a lot of my brothers hand me down furniture while we decide what our style is (he bought it all new, then they changed their style and bought more straight after lol!)
DeletePaint the rooms a nice neutral colour in shades of white to nude brown. Makes interior designing so much more fun Emma ;)
ReplyDeleteCongrats though :) Can't wait to see pictures!
Yayy Congratulations!!!
ReplyDeleteMy tip for house moving is be organised. Label your boxes properly and label the top and sides of the packing boxes for easy identification. (ie: Bedroom - Wardrobe - Jackets) etc.
Also moving house is a good opportunity to "spring clean". I usually have 3 piles. Keep - Throw - Donate. I sometimes have another pile I call "Keep for now" and throw out items within 3 months if I don't use it or I don't need it.
Congrats again :D
A very big congratulations on this milestone!!! xxx
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, my love! So happy for you! xx
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! How exciting. :D
ReplyDeleteI love the gold and blue tones you have out here!
Looking forward to seeing your beauty room! Wowsers, 'heaven' indeed!
ReplyDeleteJust be prepared to eat lot of takeout for a couple of weeks during the moving process :P
