Love & Sound - Face of the Day

After sharing the haulage and swatches of the new essence Love & Sound Collection in this post I thought it would be helpful to share a makeup look with you - especially since I've barely had the Glastonberry eyeshadow off my lids since I bought it! The collection is inspired by the festival season and I find that really cute but doesn't fit my interests in the slightest! I'm one of a rare breed who avoids concerts/festivals/gigs and would rather chill at home and watch a concert DVD or a music video channel - having said that, the best concerts I've been to are Nicki Minaj's stadium tour and an intimate gig Katy Perry did in Melbourne before she really became famous. Enough of the rambling, onto the makeup look!

These snaps were from the first wear of Glastonberry after I returned home from shopping with Mumma Bovary, and initially I had a few of the new Urban Decay Naked Smoky eyeshadows on and just used my finger to press Glastonberry all over the lid. This super simple application has become my favourite way to wear this shade - throw your usual neutral shadows over a primer (I'm currently using the Nars Smudge-Proof Eyeshadow Base) and then dab on some of this to spice it up! I'm not normally one to use single shadows, I'm much more of a palette kinda gal, but this is one I'm sure I'll put to good use!
I'm sporting my pretty standard makeup look for the rest of this post since it was all applied for a day with my Mumma - my L'Oreal Infallible Matte Foundation with the matching primer underneath, and a dusting of the essence ombre blush Sunset @ Centre Stage (which is a 'throw it on with anything' kind of colour for me) which I applied over my makeup just to try it out.
Are you a festival lover, or a homebody like me?
What is the best music event you've ever been to?
What box would you tick in a survey about 'interests' - music, movies, reading or playing sports?

Sweet Kisses Makeup Look

Popped on some of the shadows from the Models Prefer Sweet Kisses palette I reviewed yesterday, because sometimes you just need to see a wee creation to bring the palette to life!
I basically just chose some of my favourite shades from this palette and threw them onto m eyelids, which I maintain is the best way to wear bright shadows. The trick is all in the blending and using a touch of eyeliner to anchor down the crazy - this can make almost any eye look wearable!
Eyes:
Models Prefer Sweet Kisses palette:

*Mint Slice
*Pistachio
*Black Forest
*Butter Cream
*Honey Crunch

Covergirl Clump Crusher mascara
essence Hot Chocolate liner

Lips:
Revlon lipgloss in Crystal Water
Do you dare to wear bright mixes too?
Which of these shades should I throw together next?

Couture Sugar Oasis // A Simple, Wearable Makeup Look

Sometimes I relish in wearing simple, easy to throw on makeup. Having a slew of products can often make choosing quite difficult, but I know what staples I can lean on and have them close at hand in case I feel like creating a look like this one- easy, simple, fresh and pretty!

The main player for this look is definitely the glossy lip, and in my opinion no-one makes a better gloss than Nars! Oasis is a beautifully plummy pink with fine golden shimmer in a formula that lasts a long time on my lips, and gives a brilliant dimension to pink or nude lipsticks. I popped it over the top of the new Max Factor Colour Elixir Giant Pen Stick in Couture Blush, which is a soft pink shade. I have Nars Oasis in my handbag a lot of the time, as it goes with everything and it feels really moisturising for a gloss, without slipping all over my face!

Along with a sweep of Sunday Riley Blushing on my cheeks, I turned to my Too Faced Boudoir palette for this super simple eye look. Despite causing a bit of fall out (due to the silver micro-glitter) I love the way that the nude-mauve Sugar Walls looks all over the lid with a little bit of Covergirl Clump Crusher on the lashes.

How often do you wear lip crayons or lipgloss?

An Enchanted Eye Look // ft Clarins Enchanted Palette

I've been so obsessed with palettes lately, I love being able to create a whole look with one palette open in front of me. It saves space in my 'daily face' bag and when palettes are well put together is it generally easy to put together a flattering look. To put this look together I used the Clarins Enchanted Colour Quartet & Liner palette featured in yesterdays post.
I used the golden and purple shade on my lower lashline, and I must say I love the effect. It adds some colour to a look without being too over the top. I've been wearing the golden shade on my inner lower lashline with a lot of my neutral looks to work, I feel like it really brightens my face up!
On the lids is the golden bronze shade, and blended out some of the shimmery chocolate shade on the outer third. It's a subtle look, but the sheen makes it something special. To highlight, I used the palest shade from the palette. Of all of the shades in the Clarins Enchanted palette, the pale champagne shade is the least impressive. I have similar shades in my collection which are a smoother texture and have better colour payoff, but I'm still glad that it is included in the palette to have a highlighter option close at hand.
What do you think of these colours on the lower lashline?
Do you think this look is enchanting?

The Inglot Inventory: a champagne and purple FOTD

Earlier in the week I posted here about my efforts to utilise a set group of products from my collection in order to use some up or just get creative with them. Part of that bunch were my beloved Inglot palettes, which I crack out often but not often enough. Here is one of the looks I came up with using them! I will call this series The Inglot Inventory, I do hope you enjoy them!

Face:
-BareMinerals Mineral foundation in Fairly Light*
-BareMinerals Warmth powder (bronzer substitute)*
-BareMinerals Mineral Veil (light reflecting powder)*
-Face of Australia loose powder in Outback Translucent*
-NYX Peach blush

Eyes:
MAC Painterly paint pot
Inglot AMC Shine 08 (post here)
Inglot purple shade, unknown number (post here)
Mirenesse Tightliner in Black*
Lancome Hypnose Doll Eyes
Urban Decay Virgin
BYS Brow Pencil in Brown*
Ardell Clear Brow Gel

Lips:
Sportsgirl Liquid Lip Colour in Wow!

The look was quite subtle with only a few pops of purple, but I was really happy with the look as I thought the champagne and purple shade went really well together.

A blurry one taken in the car but I think it shows the purple off well.

Purple shadow was from this palette...

And this is AMC Shine 08, oh how I wish Inglot would name their shadows properly!

What sorts of looks have you been wearing lately?
What shadows from Inglot do you think I should buy next?
