The Shop Shade // Free Lip Glaze!

Like Doritos and salsa, two greats coming together is a wonderful thing. A long-time lover of Shop Til You Drop magazine and Kit Cosmetics, their now annual collaboration is once again upon us and it is a beauty!
For a number of years now, my brother and sister in law's Christmas gift to me has been a yearly subscription to Shop Til You Drop, which is by far my favourite and most read publication. I love the articles, images and shopping anecdotes which litter the pages, and the thick nature means I feel like it is worth the money. Now that I've gotten a free lipstick with this issue, it is even more worthwhile!
Simply called 'The Shop Shade', this bright pop of raspberry is free with this months magazine (November issue, with Gwyneth on the cover) Details are on page 164, but you basically hand in that page to Kit Cosmetics or Mecca Maxima stores to receive your FREE lip glaze! In previous years they have created nail shades in popular colours, but I must say I am more interested in a free lip glaze.
'The Shop Shade' is a pigmented opaque raspberry with a little bit of stick to it, which helps it last longer on the lips. I am fond of the Kit Cosmetics lip range in general, and this shade is a nice bright shade for spring and summer.

If you are interested in this shade, be sure to race out and grab your November Shop Til You Drop magazine so you can obtain your lip glaze before they run out. For more info, head to the Shop page here.

*As stated above, I received this gloss free because I have the November issue of Shop. Hon

Tutti Frutti FOTD!

Coral is my fallback color for every season, but I wear it most when the temperature rises and I get lazy. Two Revlon Lip Butters I ordered came in the mail the other morning, one being the gorgeous shade 'Tutti Frutti'! Mum and I were heading out to the shops to get my nephews Christmas gift and I took too long sipping my coffee and reading Shop Til You Drop, so I had only a few minutes to throw a face on to head out. The look I came up with was a warm coral cheek, bright coral lips and neutral eyes.
**
I threw on my Dove Tinted Moisturiser and set it with some Maybelline Dream Matte Powder, before dusting on some NYX Peach blush. I used my finger to apply some Maybelline eyeshadow in Tranquil Sand to my lids and topped it off with my Clinique High Impact Mascara (which is almost all gone, cry!) The infamous lip butter in Tutti Frutti applied like a dream and I stood back to survey the results. I wasn't happy, so took out my Hello Kitty blush in Venise and put some on over the top of my blush, and added some Nars Laguna bronzer, too. I was much happier with the look then, and headed out with Mum to get some Christmas goodies.

Mum has gone crazy with the Christmas decorations, I love it! In these pictures I'm wearing the colourfully printed maxi dress that she bought me to wear on Christmas day 2010.
The products I chose:
Dove Tinted Moisturiser in Beige
Maybelline Dream Matte Powder
Hello Kitty blush in Venise
NYX blush in Peach
Loujene Eyebrow powders
Nars Laguna Bronzer
Sportsgirl All Nighter Fighter undereye illuminator
Clinique High Impact Mascara
Maybelline Shadow in Tranquil Sands (all over)
Urban Decay shadows in Virgin (highlight) and Toasted (crease)
Revlon Lip Butter in Tutti Frutti

and my scent of the day was the MOR perfume oil in Lychee- which is my summer holiday scent, wahoo!

A Summer Sparkler!

In the last few weeks Melbourne has felt the joy of sort of summery days, and when the sun came out in full force on the weekend I took advantage! Normally a lover of bright nails looks, this was right up my alley.
Shop Til You Drop and Kit always come up with polish winners, and this is no exception.  Shop Loves Sunset is a beautiful shade that was a freebie a while ago when you purchased STYD magazine. It's a gorgeous summery coral that is a lot brighter than it appears in my pictures. (They are taken in sunlight, and sorry about the state of my nails/cuticles)
I couldn't stop at a plain mani so chucked my new Ulta3 Confetti polish over each ring finger. It didn't look as great as I'd hoped but I think it would be great over cool toned shades. I do wish it applied exactly as it looks in the bottle, I always buy glitters hoping they will be opaque but they never are.
Anyone have recommendations?
Are you rocking summery nails already?

Nails & Novels

In this instalment of Nails&Novels, I am showcasing the magazines that are stuffed in my handbag at the minute. Novel they are not, but great reads nevertheless.
My all-time favourite magazine is Shop Til You Drop. I am a material girl and this never fails to delight me, I have found a best friend in it's pages. I reread every copy over and over, and they have their own shelve on my bookstand. Grazia, on the other hand, is one I can read within an hour. I love it (especially the beauty pages) but wish the happiness was longer lasting. It is a weekly publication, which is a win! I have a subscription to both of these titles. Cleo is a newcomer to my mag-fam, I won a 6 issue subscription in a Foxtel promotion when Park St. was on. Not something I usually buy as it always has too many sex-themed articles, I've still enjoyed the change. *Edit. The new Grazia is now in my handbag, too. Quick turnover, love it.

The polish I am wearing is NYC's Snazzle. I'm choosing not to upload a picture of it on my nails close-up, as I am embarassed at the state my nails are in. (If anyone has any cuticle+nail solutions floating around, let me know-please!!) Snazzle applied nicely, and I couldn't stop staring at how beautiful and metallic it was. As I am pretty slack with my nails in general, I prefer these $2 polishes as I love the quality and have no regrets wearing them on my nasty nails.A win, of sorts. I picked this polish up from my local chemist, was in a bin with a stack of Ulta3 shades.
What are you wearing at the minute? Are you loving shimmery metallics as much as I am?
And what is YOUR favourite magazine?
