The Possible Purchase List - Winter 2015

It's been a fair while since I've felt spendy, but it seems like the latest crop of newness on the beauty front is more tempting than usual as I'm preparing my beauty drawers for some new additions...I'm thinking of giving away a few products to lessen the guilt of picking up new bits, and even just considering that makes me feel better about spending overall so hooray for that! I'm not sold on all of these (hence the 'possible purchase' part) but I know that the new Urban Decay Naked Smoky Palette will be coming home with me as I love the first three Naked editions and have a lack of smokier shades in my stash anyway. Another absolute no-brainer is the new loot from Chanel - that Alezane blush though! As soon as I saw this post on the Bloomin' Beauty Instagram I was all aboard that Chanel train once more, and I'm even considering popping my Chanel Le Vernis cherry with the dark green from this new Fall 2015 collection.

 

I think the new Too Faced Love Flush blushes are pretty amazing to look at, but it'd be my first from the brand so I'm going to have to swatch them before I say yay or nay for these ones. Of course it's the most natural shade I've popped into the collage, as it's the most gorgeous in my eyes and one I would get a lot of use from. Speaking of cheek products...I love the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blushes so am betting the Ambient Lighting Bronzer would be pretty amazing too, but I need another bronzer like a hole in the head so...

 

Last but not least on the temptation front are the Surratt blushes - I wouldn't have given them a second thought had I not read this Beauty Reductionista post in which the phrase 'Holy Grail' is uttered, and as luck would have it Surratt is launching at Mecca soon so I'll get a chance to try them out.

Current Wishlist : February 2015

Despite seemingly having a lack of shopping mojo at the moment, my lust for certain items still dwells deep in my beauty-loving belly and eventually I know I will be getting these products for myself! I think my overhauling on the honeymoon quelled my need for new things, and I'm making sure to enjoy the things I already have before adding to my stash...that being said, here are the products I'm currently lusting over.

ColourPop Lippie Stix
I've seen ColourPop products all over Instagram and Twitter and I am utterly obsessed with doing a big haul of their stuff. Mister has promised this as a belated birthday gift but we have an upcoming Christening to pay for so we're holding off for now. I plan on grabbing some of their powder eyeshadows, brand new blushes and a bunch of the Lippie Stix. I first saw ColourPop in this video and anything Jessica likes, I usually end up wanting.

Covergirl Ready Set Gorgeous
I tried to nab this in America but every drugstore I went to didn't have my shade left on the display, I was sorely disappointed. I may resort to eBay if this doesn't launch in Australia soon...I watched this review of it on the plane and it spurred my need for this, coupled with the fact that my favourite foundation comes from Covergirl so it seems promising.

Urban Decay Single Eyeshadow in 'Sin'
I've almost used up the entire pan of Sin in my Urban Decay Naked Palette and it's my favourite champagne shadow, so I really feel like I need a single of it in my life. Since Urban Decay are coming to Mecca in March I will wait until then to pick it up.

The Body Shop Smoky Poppy
I've heard that this scent is sweet and musky, and the packaging makes me want to try it too. I haven't been to The Body Shop for a while so am looking forward to giving this a sniff in store and might treat myself to a shower gel or body lotion (not that I need more body lotion in this lifetime!)

The Body Shop Drops of Youth Bouncy Sleeping Mask
Overnight masks are my kryptonite in theory, and despite only owning one of them I always pore over reviews of them online and keep an eye out for new releases to one day purchase. Seeing Caroline Hirons talk about skincare shoots it onto my wishlist, and being akin to memory foam in texture is definitely another selling point for me.

Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil
I'm obsessed with the thought of the perfect matte red lip, but now it's just a matter of working out which Nars red is the perfect one for my pale skin. I love seeing them on Anna from Vivianna Does Makeup but her skin isn't the same tone as mine so I shall have to try on a few shades at Mecca to work this one out for myself...

Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in Happy Nude Year
Apart from the hilarious shade name, the seemingly rosy nude colour of this new Bourjois release has me intrigued. I adore the formula of these and am not sure why I haven't bought more after my initial love for them was realised...I will definitely be adding more shades to my Rouge Edition Velvet collection this year.


I also forgot to pop MAC Make You Mine blush on this list - d'oh! Looking at all of the inspiration for this wishlist and it seems like fellow bloggers and YouTubers are to blame for all my beautyl ustings - tsk tsk!

Serious Sephora Skincare

Looking at all of these Sephora VIB sale posts (see Liz's post, am swooning) is making me lemm things I'd never even heard of before - I still have to pinch myself at the realisation that by this time next week I will have visited a Sephora store for the first time ever! I'm not a VIB (obviously) but I have signed up for the Sephora emails etc and I can't wait to start accumulating some points on our holiday!

I've been perusing the skincare section of the Sephora site for a while now and have a wish list that is quite extensive - I was a good girl and used up the cleansers I already had to allow myself to go crazy in America in this regard, so I'm going to leap at the chance to choose myself some lovely new skincare soon. Would love to hear recommendations from those in the know, too!

Clarins Liquid Bronze Self Tanning (for face)
I'm hesitant about the whole fake tanning thing, but a wee bit of colour on my pasty mug wouldn't go astray and I've heard this one is the bees knees!

Clinique Take The Day Off $28.50 USD/3.8oz
This is a sure thing, I've wanted to try it for so long but it's something like $55AUD so there was no chance of that happening. I need a good cleansing balm in my life right now!

Peter Thomas Roth Skinstant Mask Magic $20 USD/3X 0.5oz
This is a bit of an excitement extra for me, I've seen some good reviews of the PTR masks and I'd like to be able to put my two cents in, plus 3 mini sizes for $20 isn't too crazy for a little thrill.

Ole Henrikson Pure Truth Melting Cleanser $34 USD/4oz
Put the word melting near cleanser and I am all yours, Ole!

Boscia Makeup-Breakup Cool Cleansing Oil $28 USD/5oz
Seemingly a YouTube girl favourite, this one is more natural than others I've been checking out and I'm looking forward to trying this brand for the first time.

First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads
Love the Dr. Dennis Gross Peel Pads (may get those too...) but these come with rave reviews from people I trust so I'm on board with trying them out.

Also quite tempted by some Glamglow goodies (never tried the brand before!) but I guess we'll see how overwhelmed I get once I hit U.S shores (we fly out tomorrow!)
Any other skincare bits I should be looking into?

The Honeymoon Wishlist (Part Two)

We're less than two months away from the wedding - which also means the honeymoon is looming closer! Since my last Honeymoon Wishlist we've booked the whole lot, so now I know we are definitely heading over the the U.S for the very first time. We'll be spending the majority of our honeymoon in Hawaii (Maui + Waikiki) with jaunts in LA and Vegas beforehand, suffice to say shopping is on my mind along with the lolling around relaxing.

I have been perusing the Sephora website to no end looking at all the things I will get to check out, and the things that have intrigued me greatly are the palettes - surprise surprise!

Tarte Amazonian Clay eyeshadow palette v1

Anything Tarte is going to tempt me on this trip, I can see myself grabbing a whole bunch of products from the brand to try out and this palette looks like the best value so far. The shades look very wearable and I hope they swatch smoothly, too!

 

Chanel Poesie palette

I've been eyeing this one off at the Myer counter since it launched, but think I might wait until we hit US shores where everything is cheaper to indulge in my first Chanel eye quad.

 

Marc Jacobs The Lolita palette

I definitely want to pick up one of the MJ palettes as we don't have access to his beauty brand here in Australia. I love the look of the bright palette in this range but realistically speaking I will get more joy from the neutral palette options, so they are probably what I will head home with.

 

Kat Von D Monarch palette

As a celebrity, I'm really not a fan of Kat Von D's style or mannerisms - in fact I always ask Mister Bovary to turn over the channel if he starts watching her while I'm in the room! Her makeup line has a pretty good reputation though so I'm looking forward to swatching some of the shadows and lip products to see if anything catches my eye.

 

Nars Narsissist palette

I have to say that I don't have as much experience with Nars as many other bloggers seem to - the blushes are yet to amaze me and I only have the odd eyeshadow duo to use, so I don't know much about the shades in this 15 strong palette. They definitely look like colours I would wear often and I'm thinking of picking up the Nars eye primer also, so if this is in stock I want to see how it fares. I have always wanted the Coconut Grove single shadow and since it's in here it would be a shame to pass on it...

 

Bobbi Brown Nude on Nude palette

This is something I want to swatch, but I'm not necessarily going to pick it up. I find Bobbi Brown shadows quite sheer and I've never been able to take the plunge and buy any, though I am always intrigued by them. Perhaps this trip will topple me over the edge of Bobbi Brown mountain?

 

 

Thinking about the percentage of these that I may actually pick up is equal parts exciting and ridiculous, so there's that...what can I say, I know what I like and what I'll use and it just makes sense to haul these rather than a bunch of random stuff I might not enjoy!

 

We'll see how we go, honeymoon countdown timer is ticking and purse-strings are pulled tight to save for this lot!

The Honeymoon Wishlist (Part One)

I'm hesitant to splurge on beauty and skincare nowadays, but the impending honeymoon means my current favourite hobby is adding pretty things to my 'almost wish list', also known as the products I plan on checking out while on our honeymoon. We've been saving like mad for the usual wedding things and it's been a nice escape to think about swatching at Sephora!

We are pretty certain we will be visiting Las Vegas and Hawaii for our honeymoon, and it will be our first time in the U.S which is quite thrilling. I won't be picking up all of the products on these wish lists, but it is nice to dream isn't it? Some of these I can get a hold of in Australia but they will be cheaper overseas, and buying them in places like Sephora will feel oh so much nicer!

Marc Jacobs Daisy Dream perfume
I'm thinking of picking up a nice perfume for Mumma Bovary while overseas, and she is a hardcore MJ fan and the original Daisy is her jam. This one is so pretty!

YSL Kiss & Blush (12 Moca Garconne)
I've swatched the gorgeous Moca Garconne shade a million times, but won't think about biting the bullet until I'm high on holiday vibes.

Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush
I love my Tarte blushes so will definitely be picking up some more shades while I have easy access to them all. Swatch fun will be had!

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Liquid Makeup
I've seen this around and like the idea of being able to try the Neutrogena makeup range (since all we get in Australia is the skincare!)

Sonia Kashuk Concealer palette 
Have wanted this for the longest time, hope I can make it to a Target to see a Sonia Kashuk stand in person for the first time.

Neutrogena Pressed Powder 
Same reasons as above, but I am a sucker for a good pressed powder plus I know it's something I'll use up and enjoy.

 

Maybelline Dream Wonder Powder

I thought this would be the next powder out in Australia to replace the Dream Matte, but Matte Maker is currently the fresh one on the shelf. I will be buying this and giving it a red hot go with Dream Matte comparisons in my head.

 

Bath and Body Works Wallflowers

I adore home scents, and the cute wallflowers that they have at B&BW are too cute to pass up. They have cool clip on designs that I want to buy and I'll grab a few scents to use in the lounge and bedrooms.

 

Bath and Body Works Pocketbac

I like the idea of hauling little, easy to carry things so the scented hand sanitizers are an easy option.

 

Josie Maran Coconut Watercolor Cheek Gelee

I will need to swatch this before deciding if it's worthy of a purchase - I find cheek products like this a bit challenging but have seen so many rave reviews that I'm intrigued. 

 

Bath and Body Works Candles

Heavy, oh so heavy. Lucky I have Mister Bovary's suitcase to fill up too!

 

Dior Fluid Sticks

Another product I can grab here but will resist until holiday mode is activated. A nice wearable shade like Mirage might be on the cards...

 

Tarte Rainforest After Dark palette

Swooning over this, but whether or not it is still available when I head overseas remains to be seen.

 

Sephora Formula X polishes

There is absolutely no need for me to buy another polish ever, but I know I will buy one or two of these because I'm a sucker (and Estee from Essie Button likes them = immediately convinced) 

 

This is only just scratching the surface of what I want to suss out while on holiday! I'll be honest and say that all of the excitement at just looking at these products online it making me a bit too excited! I think I need to go and sit down...

Wishlist #2 // 2013

I am surprised that this is only my second wishlist for the year, though I did manage to pick up ¾ of my last wish list (post here if you are interested!) This time it seems to be eye and lip centered, though I am still lusting over Chanel Rouge and some of the new Face of Australia glitter polishes…

 

I am huge fan of the Clinique Chubby Sticks, and naturally am dying to try the version they are bringing out for eyes. I think I will be getting the lilac shade and some of the neutral/brown shadow sticks, but I’m excited to swatch the whole lot when they come out in Australia.

Nars are always coming out with palettes I lust over, and the latest offering is no different. And God Created the Woman is filled with shades I’ve been wanting to try (Coconut Grove, anyone?!) as well as a brush and an eye primer. I’ve heard the primer is the bomb diggity, so I’d like to try it out for myself now that my MAC Paint Pot is running out.

I will admit that I often pass over the Too Faced counter at Kit Cosmetics, though the shadows do look quite pretty. It wasn’t until I saw this Boudoir eyeshadow palette that I wanted to purchase one, and I think that the colour mix in this is something I will get a lot of use from. I quite like the tin style packaging these come in, and don’t mind the $50ish price tag for so many shades.

I have been loving all of the drugstore type lip products that have been launching lately (Maybelline Vivids, L’Oreal Shine Caresse etc) and have been eagerly anticipating Rimmel’s new faces. The Apocalips look a lot like the liquid lipstick hybrids we have seen around lately, and the colours seem really pretty and wearable. Am contemplating heading to Asos to order one in, but they are always out of the colours I’d most like.

Everybody knows I have a weakness for YSL lip products, and the new Rouge Volupte Shine’s seem like the perfect midway point between the creamy Rouge Volupte’s and the Sheer Candy’s that I have in my collection. I have my eye on a few shades, but have showed restraint so far.

I only bought my first beauty product from Dior late last year, and though I often admire the new collections it takes a lot for me to want to take something home from the counter. When I saw the new Dior Addict Lipgloss colours they had released for (US) Spring and found out they had changed the formula slightly, I knew I had to give this famous glosses a go. Chris actually bought me one of this beauties yesterday, but I’ve kept them on the list as I know I will be picking up some other shades down the line. They feel so nice on and the colour range is just stunning!

 

 

 

This wishlist has been saved in my phone for well over a month now, and I am enjoying contemplating my purchases rather than just diving in and later feeling regretful. Doing my Post Grad and placement means there is hardly any time left over for shifts on the side, so as well as helping me save this little list is helping me stay on track with products I will really use and love.

Wishlist #1 // 2013

Another year, another batch of newly released products for me to lemm over! As you can see, my appetite for Chanel blushes has gone into overdrive since I first acquired a Joues Contraste for Christmas. Rouge is a permanent shade in that line, and the crazy red with strong shimmer is intimidating, but its siren song is singing to me every time I pass by a counter. I’m also planning on picking up the new shade from their Spring 2013 line, an apricot shade called Frivole. I think that both of these are justified, because they are quite unlike anything else I have in my blush drawer.

 

Jumping over into the ‘drugstore’ realm, I am lusting over the new lip releases from L’Oreal and Maybelline. The L’Oreal Caresse Shine Stains are said to be akin to my beloved YSL Glossy Stains, and I’m hoping that the amazing Ling from The Best Beauty Blog will have one of these in her suitcase for me when she comes home from overseas. Maybelline have a few new products I really want to pick up, and the wait for them all is driving me mad. The Color Sensational Vivid lipsticks are right up my alley, and I know a few will be coming home with me when I manage to find them. I love the bright shades I’ve seen on other blogs, and think I’ll get a lot of wear out of them. Their Color Whispers are also quite exciting, they seem to be similar to the Revlon Lip Butters and the shades seem very pretty and wearable.

IMATS Wishlist

 

IMATS is drawing closer and closer, and I thought it important to spend an evening in front of the laptop, perusing my future purchases and mapping out my IMATS plan of attack. Here are the fruits of the evening!

 

Illamasqua

At IMATS 2011 I purchased a few lip products from Illamasqua that I just don't get enough wear out of, so this time around I am hoping to pick up a new pressed powder, or perhaps a blush shade. Those are things I know I will get more use out of, and would be great additions to my cosmetic collection.

 

 Unii Palettes

I am planning on getting two or three of these empty makeup palettes to get me stuck into depotting and condensing my powders. I neglected to get one last year as they didn't have the colours I was interested in, and I'd rather not pay shipping for them when I know I can get them for a great price at the trade show.

 

Face Paint Set

I have been thinking about branching out into creative makeup and face painting. I have a whole bunch of nieces and nephews (11 if you include Chris' side, with 1 on the way!) and would love to be able to paint their faces for parties etc. I could end up being really terrible at it, but I'd love to give it a whirl anyway.

 

MAC

Though I have quite an extensive MAC collection as it is, I am lusting over the Mineralize Skin Finish Natural and perhaps Soft and Gentle to use as a highlight as well. Whether or not I can be bothered lining up at the busy stall remains to be seen, it really depends on my mood.

NYX
NYX is really hard to get a hold of (unless you resort to ebay) and I want to swatch a few of the powder blushes and give them a shot. I will definitely be buying Taupe to use as a contour shade, but I'd also love to pick up another pink shade now that I'm almost finished with Peach.

 

Embryolisse

I have heard so much about this brand and I am very, very excited to grab a few pieces. Now that I'm obsessed with skin care I like being able to switch it up depending on how my skin is acting, so I'm looking forward to this nourishing range.

Ardell
I have not yet successfully applied false lashes, and I'm hoping to pick up some Ardell (and maybe some other brands) to practise with. I have a few looks planned that really need the oomph that lashes give, so I can't wait to learn how to best use these!

I may or may not have already ordered some of these, and may or may not be heading on a shopping spree tomorrow for a few of them.
